Yesterday, as part of the mission headquarters activity established in the cities of Ramla and Lod and after prolonged intelligence activity, Central District police officers and Border Guard soldiers removed 21 cameras that were installed illegally and that were filming the public space.
It is suspected that the cameras were used, among other things, by criminal elements to control central thoroughfares in the city, monitor the movement of security forces, and collect operational information for criminal purposes, while attempting to create undue influence and control in the public space.
The removal of the cameras constitutes another step in the Israel Police's determined fight against criminal elements, to strengthen governance in the public space and restore a sense of security to the city's residents.
