Last Monday, a complaint was received in the Northern District about a "Russian sting" scam, during which a Ma'alot resident in her 80s was stung.
According to suspicion, the suspect made a false representation to the victim and, under various pretexts, obtained tens of thousands of shekels and gold jewelry.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Northern District police launched an accelerated investigation, which included a variety of investigative actions, the collection of evidence, and the use of technological means that led to tracing the suspect's identity and location.

Yesterday afternoon, the suspect, a 31-year-old resident of Nof HaGalil, was arrested in Netanya on suspicion of involvement in the act. As part of the investigation, a search was conducted at his home, during which, among other things, items were seized that were suspected of being used by him in carrying out his actions.
The suspect was questioned at the police station and today was brought before the Haifa Magistrate's Court, which granted the police request and extended his detention until 08.06.26.
