Jerusalem District police arrested a security guard at a hotel in the city for questioning last night (Tuesday), after he allegedly allowed several suspects to climb onto the hotel roof and throw stones and objects at protesters from the Jerusalem Faction.
The police investigation was opened following disturbing footage that was received, showing several people standing on the roof and throwing stones at the protesters - who were on the road near the hotel at the time.
According to the suspicion emerging from the investigation, the suspect who was arrested is employed as an armed security guard at the site, and went up to the roof of the building along with other hotel employees. When they arrived at the scene, the security guard opened the door leading to the roof - thus, it is suspected, allowing the stone throwers to ascend.
The footage shows the workers allegedly throwing stones or objects from the roof. The suspect was filmed standing nearby and did nothing to stop them from throwing stones.
Following the findings, the suspect - a 39-year-old resident of East Jerusalem - was arrested by police at his home last night and taken for questioning at the police station.
