The chairman of the advisory committee for senior appointments, retired judge Asher Grunis, approached the designated head of the Mossad, Roman Gofman, and asked him to reveal a secret.
According to a report by Avishai Greenzig this evening (Tuesday) on Channel i24, at the end of Roman Goffman's testimony before the committee, and after the committee members thanked the designated head of the institution, committee chairman Asher Grunis turned to him and asked: "Can I ask you a question that is not related to the committee?".
Goffman replied: "Yes...""
And Grunis asked: "I have a feeling that *** (a well-known international figure, whose name cannot be published) is an Mossad agent. Is that true?""
Goffman was embarrassed and did not answer.
Those present in the room were astonished by the committee chairman's puzzling question.
Earlier today, the Prime Minister's Office announced that the Advisory Committee for Senior Appointments had submitted to the Prime Minister its supplementary opinion on the appointment of Major General Roman Gofman to the position of head of the Mossad.
According to the chamber's announcement, most of the committee members determined that Goffman's moral integrity was beyond reproach, and even noted that after reviewing additional materials presented to them, their position was "substantially and materially" strengthened.
A statement from Netanyahu's office said: "The Prime Minister completely rejects the minority opinion that determined that the issue should be further examined, and says that General Goffman was subjected to unnecessary torture and the mountain did not even produce a mouse.".
""The Prime Minister expects the Supreme Court to reject the petitions and not delay Major General Goffman's entry into office immediately upon the end of the term of the outgoing head of the Mossad, in the midst of a war on seven fronts.".
