Coast Guard officers, who were tasked with the investigation, have been continuing to investigate the assassination attempt since this morning, using all the means at their disposal - until those involved are located.

At the end of the investigation and based on the findings, the police will request an extension of his detention in court.

Commissioner Danny Levy: "Our message to all lawbreakers is clear and unequivocal. We will act with a heavy hand and determination against anyone who chooses to harm citizens and elected officials, and against anyone who tries to threaten the rule of law wherever and whenever necessary.".

Melhem and Avid were taken to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya, conscious and in stable condition. Initial details indicate that they were shot while near a car after a wedding they were attending.

Abid, who is still hospitalized, said: "We must act with a strong hand to eradicate this phenomenon." He said that he was leaving a wedding with the head of the council when suddenly shots were heard. "I started running and fell to the ground. After that, I don't remember anything.".
