Major General Roman Goffman, appointed head of the Mossad, today (Friday) submitted a strong statement to the High Court of Justice against the "confidential" message by Attorney Gali Baharav-Miara.
Is 100,000 NIS right for you before Shavuot? Last hours for the big lottery!
Goffman claimed in his response that her conduct, in her attempt to cast doubt on my moral purity, was "very serious" and was done in bad faith towards an officer with the rank of major general.
According to Goffman, Baharav-Miara's claims about the overlapping meetings held at the institution are not relevant to the petitions and do not involve any moral flaw.
He clarified that he began the overlapping process immediately after the Prime Minister signed his appointment, in order to prepare for his entry into office, scheduled for June 2, and that the discussions with the organization's employees are an integral part of this process.
In his response, Goffman explained that when the issue of Brigadier General G's continued service in the Mossad was raised, he made it clear that he would be able to make decisions on the matter only after he officially assumed office.
Goffman emphasized that he demanded that those concerned not contact Brigadier General G. on issues related to his professional future until a ruling is issued in the petitions, in order to maintain the integrity of the legal process and not "contaminate" it.
In his letter to the High Court of Justice, he accuses Baharav Meyara of omitting material facts from her statement to the court, and claimed that her statements regarding the conversation between him and the Mossad's legal counsel "are not true.".
According to him, Bahar-Miara was informed of his request to freeze the handling of Brigadier General G's case, but chose not to mention this in the information she defined as "confidential and sensitive.".
Goffman called on the court to dismiss the petitions against him as soon as possible, ahead of his taking office in about two weeks.
Attorney Ohad Shalem, Goffman's attorney, wrote to the court: "The consultant's conduct in attempting to cast blame on Goffman is very serious. Time and again, Bahar claims in the courtroom that she has 'confidential documents', and requests to submit them to the honorable court as if they include 'secret' things that could damage Goffman's integrity, when it repeatedly becomes clear that there is no secret in them, there is no defect in his integrity, and they are not relevant to the petitions at hand.
""Not only that, the speed with which the attorney general's 'confidential message' was leaked to the media raises even greater concerns regarding her conduct, and there is even concern about an attempt to indirectly influence the content of Brigadier General G's affidavit.".
He added sharply: "It is very unfortunate that the advisor who is supposed to be a 'gatekeeper' is acting in a way that lacks good faith towards an IDF general, and out of respect for her, there is no room here to elaborate and detail the myriad procedural flaws she caused.".

Last night, the "confidential letter" that Bahar Meyara submitted to the High Court regarding the appointment of Roman Gofman was published - by decision of the High Court of Justice and at the request of the Prime Minister - which she claims contains information that may cast doubt on the appointment of the next head of the Mossad.
