According to a report this morning (Tuesday) by Doron Kadosh on Galei Tzahal, the purpose of establishing the factory is to industrialize and significantly expand the arsenal of suicide drones that the IDF has, in order to increase capabilities on the battlefield.
According to the report, so far the IDF has purchased the FPV drones from an Israeli company, some of whose products are manufactured in China - at a cost of thousands of shekels per drone. Therefore, the goal now is to make the production process blue-and-white, within the IDF's Technology and Logistics Division.
About 200 ultra-Orthodox soldiers are scheduled to serve at the factory - they will undergo technician training and will be assigned to the role of drone assemblers.
This June, the first batch of workers will be recruited for the factory.
The IDF estimates that within two months from today, the factory will begin supplying the army with drones in large quantities - thousands every month and later even tens of thousands per month.
FPV drones are suicide drones that are also used for attack - and can also be used for defense: a drone explodes on a drone.
The IDF is also developing this capability - and has already demonstrated such an operational capability on the battlefield, but not yet on a sufficient scale.
