In an operational activity by police officers from the Beit Shemesh station, Yasm and Border Guard soldiers, three suspects were arrested over the past 24 hours - Breslov Hasidim, residents of Beit Shemesh, ages 32 and 41 - on suspicion of an assault that occurred in the city on Saturday night.

The investigation began with a report received by the police on Saturday night regarding the assault of a Haredi resident - a soldier in the Hasmonaeans who works as a volunteer to recruit Haredi men to the police - by several people involved, who allegedly caused the victim injuries to his face, and he required medical treatment.

The volunteer is active in encouraging recruitment into the police force within the Haredi sector - an area in which a significant breakthrough was recorded during the tenure of Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

Upon receiving the report, the police opened an investigation that led to the identification of the suspects and their arrest within the past 24 hours.

The three, a yeshiva rabbi in Beit Shemesh, are being questioned at the Beit Shemesh station.

According to the police, today the suspects will be brought to the Magistrate's Court for a hearing on a request to extend their detention.

According to the data, since Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir took office, there has been a dramatic increase of approximately 300% in the recruitment of Haredim into the ranks of the police. The success of the move has become a target for extremist elements who are trying to stop the trend through threats and violence.

Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir responded to the arrest and attack: "I view with great severity the vile attack on a soldier and police volunteer whose only sin is an activity to recruit Haredim. The police will operate with zero tolerance. The tremendous increase in 300% in recruiting Haredim to the police is the winning answer to the extremists. We will not allow any party to terrorize those in uniform and those who work for the state. Whoever harms them will find the police determined to bring them to justice to the fullest extent.".
