An IDF intelligence document that was sent in recent days in a very limited distribution to the political echelon reveals that the Hamas terrorist organization is managing to take advantage of the current ceasefire - to significantly rehabilitate itself.
According to a report this evening (Wednesday) on Channel 12, Hamas is systematically working to regulate and improve its power structure in the Gaza Strip, while taking advantage of the complex political reality to buy time.
The document explicitly states: "Hamas is buying time and in the meantime is regulating and improving its power building in the Gaza Strip, in terms of rebuilding the military wing, accelerating the recruitment of operatives, taking control of goods, and demonstrating civil and governmental sovereignty in the territories it holds.".
Although the report notes that Hamas has not yet succeeded in producing a technological or operational "leap-frog," the gradual process of restoring capabilities is progressing consistently and worryingly.
Security sources familiar with the details claim that developments in other sectors - primarily the conflicts with Iran and Lebanon - serve Hamas' interests.
According to them, American attention is now being directed to other hot spots in the region, which allows Hamas to evade meeting its obligations as outlined in President Trump's peace plan.
Senior defense officials expressed grave concern about the continuation of the trend and noted that the current reality could undo the achievements of the war.
