The Central Lod District Court, headed by Judge Yaakov Shepser, today (Sunday) overturned the decision of the President of the Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court, Menachem Mizrahi, and ordered the extension of the restrictive conditions imposed on Yonatan Urich for an additional 60 days.
This means that Urich will be removed from Benjamin Netanyahu's office for another 60 days.
In the decision, Judge Schafer accepted the state's appeal against the previous decision of the Magistrate's Court, and determined that there was "clear reasonable suspicion, of significant strength," regarding Urich's involvement in the Bild affair, in which he was suspected of possessing secret information, passing it on to elements in the foreign media, and destroying evidence.
The decision includes the renewal of a number of restrictive conditions:
Judge Shepser ruled that, contrary to the Magistrate's Court's ruling, this is a stage where the investigation is still active, and that this is not a disproportionate violation of Urich's rights, given the sensitivity of the case and the risk of disrupting proceedings or repeating the offenses.
He also rejected the defense's claims that the terms could not be renewed, noting that these were terms that were already in effect and had been properly extended.
