Singer Nathan Ben Shimon, a resident of Raanana, returned to participate in the show "The Next Star," which airs on Keshet 12, after not being accepted into the team in the season that aired three years ago.

The show's hosts, Assi Ezer and Rotem Sela, noticed that Ben Shimon arrived for the current season wearing a kippah and a tzitzit - and he said that he had repented following the events of October 7.

""What's crazy is," said Rotem Sela, "that it's as if the October Shabbat was supposed to do the opposite. Because it's as if you're saying - where was God?""

Assi Ezer explained: "There are a lot of people who feel that something in their Judaism actually takes on even more validity. When someone comes to destroy you, you say - wait, wait, why does he want to do that? Because of who I am? What does it mean to be who I am? And then you look for more.".

He added: "We know a lot of people who went in this direction. Some of our good friends - it made them even stronger.".

Ben Shimon, who hopes to advance in the program that selects Israel's candidate for Eurovision, said: "When we go to Eurovision, we need to think about what we represent. We are the Jewish people, we need to know that we have a mission in this world - to be a light to the nations.".
