A tragedy during the holidays: A 20-year-old young man, a yeshiva student and resident of the Ramot neighborhood in Jerusalem, drowned and lost consciousness in the Ein Mode spring in the Valley of Springs in the Beit Shean area, while swimming there with his friends in the early morning hours.
The young man's friends said that while swimming he suddenly lost consciousness, and after they pulled him out of the water, they began CPR in an attempt to save his life.
Volunteer paramedics from the Gilboa branch of the United Hatzalah performed prolonged CPR on him.
He was taken by intensive care unit, while undergoing CPR, to Ha'emek Hospital in Afula, in serious condition, sedated and on a ventilator, and in critical condition.
The yeshiva boy is hospitalized in the respiratory intensive care unit, in unstable condition, and doctors are fighting for his life. During treatment, a skull fracture was discovered and the possibility that he jumped headfirst into the shallow pool is being investigated.
Beit Shean police have opened an investigation.
A United Hatzalah spokesperson said: "This is a young yeshiva student from Jerusalem who lost consciousness while swimming in a spring. The young man's friends began CPR, with telephone guidance, until the paramedics arrived - who continued prolonged CPR.".
MDA paramedic Shai Ashkenazi, who arrived at the scene, said: "The MDA call center received a call about a 21-year-old young man who entered a spring and drowned. The paramedic at the MDA call center briefed the citizens on the scene on how to perform basic CPR. When we arrived at the scene, we continued with advanced CPR, which included breathing, massages, medications, and electric shocks. After his pulse returned and his condition stabilized somewhat, he was taken in an MDA intensive care unit to HaEmek Hospital, in serious condition, sedated and on a ventilator.".
By order of the rabbis, they added the name Chaim to his name.
Please pray for: Chaim Meir Ben Masha for a complete recovery.
