The political echelon instructed to establish a new body whose role would be to monitor gaps and strengthen Israeli armaments capability.

According to a report this evening (Saturday night) on News 12, the new body will be established in response to the partial or full embargo that countries impose on Israel - and also to reduce Israel's dependence on the US.

Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz instructed the establishment of the new body, which will be called the "Ammunitions Administration," part of whose role will be within the framework of war management, but is also intended to serve as preparation for the future.

In discussions that have taken place in recent days between the political echelon and the defense establishment, the need for a directorate has become more acute.

According to the report, the directorate will be headed by Defense Ministry Director General Amir Baram.

As you may recall, during the war, relations with the world's greatest power and Israel's most important friend were put to the test when the US halted arms shipments to Israel - in light of the entry into Rafah and the threats of an arms embargo by former Defense Secretary Austin and former Secretary of State Blinken - unless humanitarian aid to Gaza was increased.

The director's duties:

Identifying armament gaps and preparing for future threats.

Managing agreements with foreign countries in the field of armaments supply, production collaborations and knowledge transfer.

Centralizing the monitoring of a national stockpile of critical armaments.

Developing emergency production capabilities and rapid output in times of war or escalation.

Coordination between the requirements of the IDF and security agencies and the capabilities of the defense industry.

Creating a central interface between the Ministry of Defense, the IDF, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, and other regulatory authorities.
