''A Million in Samaria' is a program led by Council Chairman Yossi Dagan. It was formulated by professionals in the Samaria Regional Council and external experts, including engineers, architects, geologists, and professional consultants who prepared a practical professional plan to reach a million residents in Samaria by 2050.
Planning 13 cities and 5 industrial zones is part of the 'Million in Samaria' plan, which also includes laying railway lines to the center and north of the country, expanding roads, establishing a medical center in central Samaria, and an airport.
In total, according to the plan, 180,000 housing units will be added to the Samaria Regional Council. In northern Samaria: approximately 40,000 housing units will be added, alongside the renewal of settlement in the communities that were evacuated as part of the disengagement plan – Sha-Nur and Khomash.
In the settlements of the mountain slopes: approximately 8,000 housing units will be added. In central Samaria: approximately 10,000 new housing units will be built. On Mount Ebal: a new settlement point will be established on a mountain of historical, biblical and national importance to the Jewish people.
Samaria Council Chairman Yossi Dagan said: "The answer to the terrible murder of Tsala Ges is construction. Terrorism is trying to expel us - and we will respond with growth. We will establish cities, build industrial zones, make Samaria flourish. I congratulate the Minister of Construction and Housing Yitzhak Goldknopf on the ethical and courageous decision to invest 30 million NIS in planning settlement points - 13 cities and 5 industrial zones - as part of the 'Samaria for a Million' plan. We will add light to the darkness. We will add life to the death.
""This is a historic move that will change the face of the State of Israel and ensure the future of settlement. Jewish blood will not be in vain – we will perpetuate the memory of Tzala in the building of the country.""
Dagan added: "I thank Minister Goldknopf, who is a true partner in the settlement even in difficult times, Chief of Staff Moti Babchik, the director general of the ministry Yehuda Morgenstern, who professionally promoted the issue, a huge thank you to Minister Bezalel Smotrich - a true partner in all settlement matters and who pushed and helped reach this important decision, together with Yehuda Eliyahu, his right hand man, a big thank you to MK Zvi Sukkot for his dedication, perseverance and smart thinking that helped us reach this result, and to the professional team in the council.".
Minister of Construction and Housing Yitzhak Goldknopf said: "In the face of the murderers who seek to destroy us - the clear and unequivocal answer is to strengthen settlement and consolidate our hold on the Land of Israel in general, and Judea and Samaria in particular.".
"The planning of the settlements and their expansion constitute a security and economic anchor for the region, and send a strong and unambiguous message: We are here to stay and to expand.".
Minister of Finance and Minister of Defense, Bezalel Smotrich: ’In the face of the terror that seeks to uproot – we will build, flourish and deepen our roots. With God’s help, we will plan 13 new cities and 5 industrial zones in Samaria as part of the “Samaria for a Million‘ plan, with a response that is both security-related, Zionist and economic. I congratulate Minister Goldknopf and Council Chairman Yossi Dagan for promoting the initiative with the assistance of MK Zvi Sukkot, and I pledge to continue to place the state budget and government ministries at the service of the settlement vision. Samaria is the heart of the country – and we are strengthening it, for the sake of the entire people of Israel.’
MK Zvi Sukkot: "The Samaria region is Israel's great construction reserve. The vision of a million in Samaria, which my friend Yossi Dagan is promoting, will put an end to the nightmare movie of an Arab terrorist state in the heart of the country, will jumpstart the economy and finally provide the possibility of affordable housing in the State of Israel.".
