Thousands of Satmar Hasidim participated in a tish hosted by the Satmar Rebbe on the 35th anniversary of his uncle, the Rebbe Baal Habbrei Yoel, on the 26th of Av.
The Rebbe spoke for about two consecutive hours.
In his words, he emphasized the greatness of the right of the Baal Hilula, zt"l, who stood firm throughout his life and was not afraid to go against the majority opinion of the public, when he saw it as the duty of the hour and the salvation of generations, and was not afraid to publish his holy opinion throughout the world, in all languages, despite the scorn and slander he received for it, and even to the point of self-sacrifice, he published the clear Torah opinion.
In his remarks, the Rebbe referred to what has been happening in the Holy Land in recent months. First, he spoke about the large demonstration against the draft decree for yeshiva students that was held in Israel and then in New York, in the presence of tens of thousands of Jews. "For the first time, tens of thousands of Jews declared throughout the entire world that the State of Israel is persecuting ultra-Orthodox Judaism.
""So it's true, in recent months the war over the decree has calmed down a bit and been postponed for a few years, but all of this is just a temporary eye-catcher, when next month the High Court of Justice judges, the real decision-makers in the State of Israel, will sit down and decide on the terrible decree: Will the new law remain in force or is it also not good and must everyone be mobilized immediately?".
""But," shouted the Rebbe, "the main problem in our generation is the newspapers of all kinds, in all languages, both written and printed, which spread the Zionist view in the world, some openly and some covertly, and therefore it is impossible to sit and be silent at a time like this and not speak. It is impossible to wait until everything is over and only then speak, when the wave of heresy is passing through the world.
""Who knows, all the bloodshed of nearly 70 Jewish lives, which were recently killed, began with the kidnapping of the three young men who hitchhiked at night, in one of the settlements, with the knowledge of the parents. The parents knew that their children - who study in a dangerous place - were hitchhiking, and they didn't tell them anything. It's just like opening a yeshiva in a neighborhood known for crime and sending yeshiva boys there to study.".
""To catch hitchhikers at night, anyone with eyes in their heads will shout and scream against this yeshiva and the parents - that they are murderers. So why here, when the boys were kidnapped, was there no protest against them and no shouting like that?"
""The reason for this is only because of the lust of Zionism, which at its heart is the desire to roam all over the country, the desire for the right to live wherever I want, and for no one to tell me where to go. So this is exactly the point of Zionism, and this is the reason why everyone was silent and did not speak. And this is what we learned from our holy uncle, the author of the hymn, zt"l.
""Then they began to cry out for revenge for the terrible murder, and revenge brought new revenge, until it led to the outbreak of war, which resulted in the deaths of about 70 Jews because of the revenge.".
""And I ask: Was there a Sanhedrin meeting before the war? Did they receive permission to shed Jewish blood? Is it even permissible to cry out for revenge and take revenge on one's own strength, through flesh and blood?"
""They say in prayer: We will avenge blood before our eyes. God will avenge the blood of all those who were killed throughout the exile, including the blood of these Jews, and it is forbidden for flesh and blood to avenge this revenge alone. And especially since millions of Gentiles, haters of Israel, are just waiting for a good excuse to go out into the streets of the city and kill or beat Jews, and this gives them a good excuse to do it, as everyone knows and sees.
""And the result of the whole war will be the decree on the conscription of yeshiva students. We connect with them, we begin to love them, and that way it will be much easier to convince the Haredim to enlist in the IDF melting pot, the source of heresy, Rahal.".
""It is written in the Bnei Issachar, Parashat Pinchas, that even when the time for the end of the exile arrives, and God, the Blessed, wants to redeem the people of Israel, many of them can, through their actions, prevent the redemption and cause the exile to be prolonged, even after the end of time.".
Then the Rebbe returned to speak at length about the lines of the Nayys, which "unknowingly and by mistake introduce invalid opinions, as the late Baal Hilula zt"l once said to the publisher of the newspaper Der Id: that he did not want them to open a daily newspaper, because it is impossible to publish a daily newspaper without publishing false opinions in it, knowingly and unknowingly, and introducing confusion of minds and invalid opinions, and even more so in the lines of the Nayys.".
The Rebbe then spoke about "the greatest trouble of our generation - technology, which"Destructs the vineyard of Israel and leads dozens away from the path of Torah and mitzvot every day, especially among women whose minds are light, and all who come to her will not return home.".
The Rebbe said that "I come to him with young men who have been exposed to technology, even for just half an hour, and the damage is so great that it is almost impossible to return the young man to his previous state.".
After midnight, the tish ended, and throughout the night and morning, tens of thousands of Jews ascended to the Zion of the Baal Hilula, in the tent at the Beit HaChaim in Kiryat Joel.
At 10 a.m., the Rebbe arrived at the large Yeshiva Hall in Kiryat Joel, where he prayed morning prayers with the young men, and then conducted a 'Lechaim Tish' and a holy communion in preparation for the Aliyah to Zion.
The influx to Zion continued until about an hour before candle lighting time.
