MK Uri Maklev, at the beginning of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee meeting discussing regulations for the recruitment of religious women, referred (Tuesday) to demonstrations by rioters from the 'Jerusalem faction' at his home this morning, in an attempt to prevent him from leaving the Knesset building.
""Everything we do is on behalf of the great men of Israel. There is no authority to either ease the issue of conscription or to make it stricter. Unlike most members of Knesset, we are not elected by primaries - but by the great men of Israel who are disconnected from politics.".
He added: "One of our tests is about obedience and guidance. We come here after receiving guidance about everything. These demonstrations sharpen the difference between us and them, even though they look like us and dress like us, they are not like us and we do not represent them.".
Deputy Education Minister Meir Porush also spoke about the demonstrations that took place near his home. "My friends and I were elected by nearly a quarter of a million men and women - whom the elders of Israel told to vote for United Torah Judaism. Those who are protesting did not go to vote in the elections. We know that the elders of Israel are not sending them.".
Porush emphasized: "I want to say that if we are sitting here, it is because the great men of Israel sent us here. We are carrying out our mission according to their command.".
