""To prevent Jewish assimilation": A gang from Beersheba that attacked Arabs was exposed

בפעילות משותפת של שירות הביטחון הכללי ומשטרת ישראל נעצרו לאחרונה שישה תושבי באר שבע, בחשד שביצעו מעשי תקיפה אלימים נגד בני מיעוטים - ובהם דקירה בחודש פברואר 2017. בין העצורים גם שני חיילים בשירות סדיר וקטין. בשב"כ מציינים, כי חקירתם של המעורבים חשפה פרטים רבים אודות פעילותם, שהחלה בדצמבר 2016, ובמסגרתה נתפסו כלים ששימשו למעשי התקיפה, בהם מספר רב של סכינים קפיציות, אלות ומוטות ברזל. בשב"כ אומרים, כי החקירה חשפה כי אירועי התקיפה בוצעו ממניע לאומני-גזעני, במטרה "למנוע התבוללות של יהודיות עם ערבים בבאר שבע". עוד עלה בחקירה, כי טרם ביצוע התקיפות, נקטו החשודים בפעולות שונות כדי לוודא כי אכן מדובר בערבים. עוד התברר בחקירה, כי חלק מהחשודים צפו בסרטון של ארגון להב"ה שעסק ״בחילוץ יהודיה שנישאה לערבי". אחד החשודים הגדיר עצמו כתומך להב"ה וחשב להצטרף ולפעול בארגון, אך לבסוף לא עשה זאת. כתבי אישום הוגשו על ידי פרקליטות מחוז דרום לבית המשפט השלום והמחוזי בבאר שבע כנגד העצורים, בין היתר בעבירות שהן "מעשה טרור", בהתאם להגדרתו בחוק המאבק בטרור. בארגון חוננו אומרים כי הצעירים תושבי באר שבע, סיפרו על חקירות ארוכות וקשות במתקני השב"כ במשך ימים ארוכים, ולטענת עורכי הדין לפחות אחד מהנערים ניסה תוך כדי החקירות לשים קץ לחייו, וזאת ככל הנראה בעקבות לחצים קשים שעבר. את חלק מהנאשמים מייצגים עו"ד סימה כוכב ועו"ד אביחי חג'בי מארגון חוננו.

Attorney Sima Kochav: "It is unfortunate that in the State of Israel in 2017, young boys find themselves entering interrogations healthy and after several days in the Shin Bet, requiring medical treatment and after attempting suicide. This is an investigation that trampled on human rights, included the use of unlawful force, the use of undemocratic orders to prevent them from meeting with an attorney, and more.".

""It appears that these are Jews who are suspected of having quarreled with Arabs, rights are being forgotten, legal procedures are being trampled upon, and we are discovering new rules in arrest laws, someone has marked a target and all means are kosher. I am concerned first as a citizen and then as a lawyer. We will study the investigation materials and respond to the suspicions.".

 Attorney Avichai Hajabi: "It seems that basic rights of detainees are blocked by the iron doors of the Shin Bet's basements. My client's interrogation was carried out in violation of every basic right granted to him by law, while I was prevented from meeting and speaking with him. In the coming days, we will be exposed to the interrogation material and will respond to the suspicions in the usual ways.""
