The Jerusalem District Attorney's Office filed indictments against nine defendants today (Sunday) at the city's Magistrate's Court for rioting, endangering the roads, and obstructing police officers in the performance of their duties.
The defendants participated in a wave of demonstrations by the 'Yerushalmi faction', over the arrest of a Brisk Yeshiva student in Jerusalem, who was arrested for deserting the IDF - with the aim of disrupting public order and blocking traffic in the city in several locations, especially on the city's main public transportation arteries.
According to the prosecutor's office, Amram Margalit is accused of participating in a riot in Jerusalem last week, during which he threw a stone at a police officer.
Nathan Pappenheim and Yona David Perl from Beit Shemesh are accused of disobeying a police officer's instructions to disperse an illegal demonstration in Beit Shemesh - and resisting the police, using violence.
Shalom Yaakov Friedman is accused of taking part in a riot on Shivtei Yisrael Street in Jerusalem, setting fire to a newspaper that was lying on the floor and throwing it burning into a trash can.
Five others were charged with rioting and blocking roads in the Beit Shemesh area.
