Administrative detainee Meir Ettinger ended the hunger strike he began last week tonight, after the Prison Service decided last night to restore his rights and allow him to talk on the phone with his wife and immediate family.

After being transferred to solitary confinement and banned from making phone calls by a puzzling and illegal order from the Prison Service, Ettinger announced through his lawyer Sima Kochav that he was starting a hunger strike - until his rights were restored.

Meanwhile, this afternoon, the Central District Court is expected to issue a decision regarding the transfer of the two detainees - Ettinger and Mordechai Meyer - to Eshel Prison.

This morning, the Beer Sheva District Court approved the transfer of the third administrative detainee, Eviatar Slonim, to an isolated cell.

The Honenu organization protests the continued abuse of Jewish administrative detainees: "We are happy that at least Ettinger was allowed to speak with his family, but we protest the transfer of administrative detainees to isolation without any reason.

""It should be remembered that the administrative detainees are not accused of anything and are being held in custody solely by virtue of the signature of the Minister of Defense, which resulted from improper media pressure. We suggest that the security establishment show its support for the rampant Arab terrorism and not against Jews.".
