A mourning in the world of Hasidism: The Rebbe of Kretshnif Sighet zt"l passes away at the age of 75

Baruch Dayan, the truth teller: In Jerusalem, the Rebbe, Rabbi Zeida Eliezer Zeev Rosenbaum zt"l of Kretschnif-Sziget, passed away this afternoon (Tuesday), at the age of 75, after a stroke.

The Rebbe, the late, was evacuated on Shabbat evening from his seminary on Rappaport Street in the Beit Israel neighborhood to the Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center, after collapsing during the Mincha prayer. Tests at the hospital revealed that the Rebbe had suffered a very serious stroke and was hospitalized while sedated and on a ventilator.

Many prayed for his complete recovery and even added the name "Baruch" to him, but to the heartbreak of his family, followers, and admirers, he passed away.

The Rebbe was born in Kiryat Ata on Passover 5701, as the second son of his father, the Rebbe Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Kretshnif. His mother, Rebbetzin Shifra, may God have mercy on her, was the daughter of the Rebbe, the author of the 'Davar Chaim' of Nadborna.

In his father's and grandfather's house and was educated on the Beit Nadborna-Kretshnif route. As a child, he studied at the Talmud Torah in Kiryat Ata and later at the Satmar Talmud Torah in Haifa. As a young man, he studied at his father's yeshiva in Kiryat Ata and later at the Kochav Mi'yaakov-Tzevin yeshiva in Jerusalem.

Upon reaching his retirement, he married his wife, Rebbetzin Primat, who passed away in 1998 - the daughter of the Rebbe Rabbi Yehezkel Shraga of Maaratz, zt"l from the United States.

After the widower married a second time, the daughter of the late Rabbi Ephraim Fishel Brach, Av Beit Din of Made, and moved to Williamsburg, where he served as rabbi of the Kretschnif-Sziget community.

Upon the passing of his father, the Rebbe, on the 16th of Iyar 5766, he was enthroned alongside his brother, the Rebbe of Kretshnif-Jerusalem, to serve as the Rebbe of Kretshnif-Sigat in the United States.

In parallel with the community in Brooklyn, he opened seminaries in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh.

In 2016, he immigrated to Jerusalem and led his community from the Beit Midrash on Rappaport Street in the Beit Israel neighborhood. In 2018, he founded a teaching center in Jerusalem called "Nachalat Zvi" after his father.

In addition to reciting the Torah at the third meal, he gave a lesson on the Rashi Pentateuch every Friday night. His Torah readings were printed in the 'Reza Damona' pamphlets.

The Rebbe operated according to the 'Satmar method' and used to preach against participation in elections and against Zionism.

He left behind a blessed generation of righteous people, sons and daughters, sons-in-law and many descendants.

His sons: Rabbi Naftali Hertzka Yitzhak Rosenbaum - rabbi of the Kretschniff-Sziget Beit Shemesh and son-in-law of the Rabbi Neishlas Av Beit Din of Saardhaly; Rabbi Yehezkel Shraga Rosenbaum - rabbi of the Kretschniff-Sziget Beit Midrash in Williamsburg; Rabbi Nissan Chaim Mordechai Rosenbaum is influential in Breslov; Rabbi Meir Aryeh Leib Rosenbaum, son-in-law of the Rebbe of Sendishov; and Rabbi Yoel Sussman Rosenbaum, son-in-law of the Rebbe of Bishtna, Canada.

His sons-in-law: Rabbi David Zvi Kahn - rabbi of the Beit Midrash Toldot Avraham Yitzchak Beit Shemesh and son of the Rebbe of the Toledot Avraham Yitzchak; Rabbi Aharon Kahn, son of Rabbi David Kahn of the Toledot Aharon - rabbi of the Beit Midrash Toldot Aharon in Monsey; Rabbi Chaim Eliyahu Yoel Ilawitz, son of the rabbi of the Yammering community in Williamsburg; Rabbi Chaim Meir Schneiblag, Av Beit Din of Strelisk, son of the Rebbe of Czernowitz; Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Rothenberg, son of the Rabbi of Salka in Monsey; and Rabbi Aharon Teitelbaum.

His older brother is the Rebbe, Rabbi Nissan Rosenbaum of Kretshnif-Jerusalem. His sister is Rebbetzin Reitza Bracha Rabinowitz, wife of the Rebbe of Biala-Bab.
