United States President Donald Trump today (Sunday) mocked London Mayor Sadiq Khan following his response to the series of attacks in the English capital.
""At least seven killed and 48 injured in terror attack, and the Mayor of London says 'no reason to panic'!" Trump wrote sarcastically on his Twitter account, after Khan said in an interview with the BBC this morning: "There is no reason to panic about the increased police presence on the streets.".
Khan also said that "London is the safest international city in the world," and added, ahead of the British general election: "Go vote on Thursday - show that you are not afraid.".
The US president, as mentioned, did not 'like' the mayor's words and wrote: "We must stop being 'politically correct' and get into the business of keeping our citizens safe. If we are not smart, it will only get worse.".
Trump also referred to his intention to ban Muslims from entering the United States, writing: "We must be smart, determined, and tough. We need the courts to restore our rights. We need the ban as an additional level of security.".
In response to the president's words, Khan's close circle responded: "The mayor is busy working with the police, emergency services and government to respond to this horrific and cowardly terrorist attack, and to provide leadership and security for Londoners and visitors to our city.
""He has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump's tweets, who deliberately took his comments out of context, when he urged Londoners not to panic when they see more police on the streets - including armed police.".
