Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the General Security Service facility in southern Israel today (Sunday), and met with the acting head of the Shin Bet, S., the acting deputy head of the service, the senior management forum, and the organization's employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the visit, the Prime Minister was presented with a broad intelligence overview of Shin Bet activity in various arenas. Among other things, the operations carried out by the organization in the Gaza Strip were presented, including operations to recover live and dead hostages, and the thwarting of Iranian espionage in Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, the Prime Minister was presented with advanced technological means developed in the service and used in combat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Netanyahu said: "We have removed an immediate threat to our existence, two deadly threats to our existence. You did a very, very good job in taking advantage of them, the targets, and in very, very positive thwarting. But both in attack and defense, you are breaking new ground. I just saw it. I was really amazed by the technology.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added: "I want to inform you that, as you probably know, many opportunities have opened up now following this victory. First of all, to rescue the hostages. Of course, we will also have to resolve the Gaza issue, to defeat Hamas, but I estimate that we will achieve both tasks. Acting Shin Bet chief S. said: "The Iranian effort was met by an iron wall of Shin Bet thwarting, which left the Iranians with 0 successes in realizing their intentions. The secret campaign conducted by the Shin Bet has results in numbers: Every day of the campaign, the Shin Bet thwarted an average of two significant attacks. This figure adds to the approximately 770 thwarted significant attacks since the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
