I left a few meetings in the Knesset. On the way out, I got into the elevator, absorbed in my phone \u2013 another message, another urgent email, another update that couldn't wait. And before I knew what was happening \u2013 the doors opened on the 5th floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Without thinking twice, I hissed to myself: "How did I get to the 5th floor?"\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then Esther entered. One of the veteran workers in the Knesset corridors. The woman who has seen ministers come and go, governments rise and fall, and thousands of politicians who think they are the most important in the world. She has been there for 30 years, quietly gaining wisdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And she shot back without blinking: "Because you got into the elevator and were absorbed in your phone like an idiot - so that's what happened.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to argue. I really wanted to. Explain to her about the urgency, the crazy pace, how everything is happening all the time and you can't stop for a moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But well, she's right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just like I arrived at the wrong floor, how many times do we arrive at the wrong place in life? How many times a day do we "go up to the wrong floor" just because our heads are stuck on the screen? How many opportunities, conversations, looks, moments of real connection, simply pass us by while we scroll like there's no tomorrow?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Esther stands there in the elevator, sees me confused for a moment, and instead of smiling politely \u2013 she gives me the raw truth. No filters, no artificial politeness. Like a grandmother who isn't afraid to say what needs to be said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And this truth hurts, because it is accurate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We live in the most connected generation ever, but somehow also the most disconnected. Connected to everything and nothing, but not to the present moment. Not to where we are. Not to the people next to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Technology is amazing. The ability to be connected is even more amazing. But sometimes, it's worth taking your head off the screen for a moment. Not just to get to the right floor \u2014 but to truly be present where we are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
