Since the Simchat Torah massacre, a tremendous cry for unity has been rising from the general public. The soldiers at the front are yearning for it, and the people on the home front are longing for it. It seemed as if a clear dividing line had been created between the discourse that existed here before the war and the discourse that should exist among us after it.<\/p>\r\n
Some tried in the first weeks of the war to return to that blunt and divisive discourse, but the public reaction stopped them. The public made it clear in the clearest way that it rejects this outright and demands that everyone seek what unites and connects the parts of the people. The soldiers who went on short vacations also conveyed a clear message to all parties that they now expect everyone to speak only messages of unity and bringing hearts closer together.<\/p>\r\n
But even then, there were clear signs that certain elements were not willing to accept this lawsuit. They had other plans, and it didn't seem like they were willing to give them up. Big money was also waiting for the right moment, when it could flood the country with more campaigns of hatred and agitation.<\/p>\r\n
These elements heated up on the lines while we all wished for unity in the ranks.<\/p>\r\n
Not in the name of the people<\/strong><\/p>\r\n And as expected, we are once again in the midst of a negative campaign that cannot be escaped. The amount of money invested in it is enormous, and its entire purpose is to re-erect the walls of hostility between parts of the people. Anything is possible to achieve the goal. To harm the war effort. To use the families of the kidnapped. To defame Israel in the world. To present the unjust and unnecessary war as being motivated by political interests.<\/p>\r\n And you ask yourself, how can you stand up to such propaganda machines, which even large parts of the media happily join in? How can the people's longing for unity and sane, respectful discourse stop such a well-oiled and resource-rich campaign?<\/p>\r\n We believe in the power of light to drive out darkness. Hasidism emphasizes that even a little light repels a lot of darkness. And yet, a single drop of mud is enough to stain the whitest tablecloth. A single crumb of trash can turn the most luxurious dish into a disgusting one. Can the power of unity overcome the forces of hatred and hatred?<\/p>\r\n It is possible that in the short term the negative forces will prevail, but in the long term we are certain that the positive forces will strengthen and prevail. It is impossible to raise slogans of division and division in the name of the people, when the people demand the opposite, unity and connection.<\/p>\r\n A discourse of listening<\/strong><\/p>\r\n Anyone who does not want to return to the same toxic discourse that existed here before the war should enlist in the fight against factions. Not consume media that fuels the division of hearts. Voice the demand from every possible platform to stop the fratricidal wars. Build platforms where a discourse of listening, understanding the pain of others, and seeking solutions through joint efforts can take place.<\/p>\r\n We hear from the soldiers how people with different opinions live together in peace and harmony, and how they all unite for the common goal. What is true in battle is also true in citizenship. We are one people and we have a common destiny. We were burned very badly after a year of internal strife. We must not go back there.
