After leafing through the weekend newspapers, I couldn't help but be impressed that this was the week of cucumbers for the Haredi media.<\/p>\r\n

And not that there weren't exciting events in the background. After all, the fighting in the south is still in full swing. Between the first and the second floor, between the second floor. But it seems that the reporters preferred their vacation and spending time with the children in between, over investing in work - and the results are accordingly.<\/p>\r\n

It was hard to find a single good field reporter for medicine. Gone are the days when a family newspaper would send its reporters to the various crash sites, to the abandoned houses in the Gaza enclave, and\/or to get a glimpse of the southern battlefield. A community newspaper, as always, didn't even pretend to try. The news issue was composed almost entirely of a collection of news stories that appeared during the week on various websites. Nothing original. And a lot of PR.<\/p>\r\n

The only one who bothered was the field reporter for the Yated Ne'eman newspaper, who sailed south, energetic as usual, to cover the opening of the upcoming school year at the Haredi educational institutions. A good field report and color, including beautiful photos, under the brilliant headline "A is (the color) red, B is a school" (Sdot Negev, Sa'ad, Kerem Shalom - all the hot spots).<\/p>\r\n

The Tzalash goes to the field reporter, but certainly also to the editor, who brought with him the breath of the good old days in the family to the Yated Ne'eman home.<\/p>\r\n

The informant did not pretend to provide field reporting, although it must be noted that the articles penned by the military correspondent were certainly in-depth and serious.<\/p>\r\n

And the political sphere? There the emptiness stood out most of all. What appeared, if it appeared at all, was shallow and flat, the work of occasional substitutes. It is what we said: We went on vacation, we will return as soon as possible.<\/p>\r\n

And if so, just a question: Why should readers pay the same price for a 'vacation newspaper' as for a newspaper filled with the work of expert writers?<\/p>\r\n

2.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

'Yom Liom' does not have a military correspondent who is an expert in its field, like Family or the Informant, for example, but I found an interesting phenomenon: at least two articles mentioned things that a "senior security official" said to one or another reporter for the newspaper.<\/p>\r\n

Did a security official really bother to invest in a newspaper considered sectoral and devote time to reporters who are not specifically military correspondents? I wonder.<\/p>\r\n

3.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Speaking of 'day by day'.<\/p>\r\n

The congratulatory message to the Prime Minister on the birth of his grandson (congratulations were also sent from this platform) is signed by the newspaper staff, the editor, the CEO, and also... Zvi Hakak - Chairman of the Spiritual Committee.<\/p>\r\n

I couldn't help but remember the day I was informed of his dismissal, when after a harsh and critical piece of news I published on the subject, I was promised that the man would be immediately reinstated. What media pressure can do.<\/p>\r\n

I wondered: Will they rush to invite the rabbi's important sons, Rabbi Moshe Yosef and Rabbi Avraham Yosef, in the wake of the criticism I published this week about not including them in the announcement of the 'Ishqbeti Damran' events? - Time will tell.<\/p>\r\n

In any case, in a response given to Maariv the next day, a source close to Deri apologized for the omission and took the trouble to explain that the ad was not in the eyes of the movement's chairman, who, for his part, preferred that it not include the names of rabbis...<\/p>\r\n

A kind of initial surrender, which will continue into complete surrender?<\/p>\r\n

4.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

I was very curious about how the newspaper would handle the passing of Attorney David Glass, the man considered closest to the late Rabbi Yosef.<\/p>\r\n

On the one hand, an extensive magazine article would be considered glorifying Maran's legacy, which the contemporary Shas doesn't really make an effort to do (unless they encounter media criticism). On the other hand, it's impossible to ignore.<\/p>\r\n

So there was a half-page article (including the photos), also another section in a political column (no, Eli Yishai is not seen in the photos), even Yishai's short eulogy was included in the news item.<\/p>\r\n

I expected more, although it could have been worse. Complete disregard.<\/p>\r\n

5.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

I really liked the following passage in 'Day by Day':<\/p>\r\n

The reporter was so right when he reminded us all how on Saturday (the previous Saturday) the left-wing camp held a demonstration in Rabin Square against the fighting and in favor of renewing political negotiations.<\/p>\r\n

\""The demonstration began on Holy Saturday," he recalls. "On the left, they give up on the religious from the start and don't see them as partners in the peace process.".<\/p>\r\n

But what is more interesting: the reporter's call for the Geneva Initiative and left-wing organizations to "stop harassing ultra-Orthodox journalists in tedious meetings and various discussions.".<\/p>\r\n

In other words, they don't want us - so no, thank you.<\/p>\r\n

6.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Since the formation of the Netanyahu cabinet, penned by the writer Kobi Levy (whose real name was revealed about two weeks ago, as already mentioned in this section), I can't help but love this little section.<\/p>\r\n

Bejarno from the city hall, Alfonso on the broom, Rafi from the carpentry and Yosef the beggar \u2013 discussing matters that are at the top of the world. Brilliant!<\/p>\r\n

If these were real discussions, I would be happy to participate in them and document them...<\/p>\r\n

7.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Another type of article that is hard not to like are "family" articles, in which the reporter reviews the Haredi concentrations, detailing the map of discrimination (or lack of discrimination) that prevails in the admission of students to the schools.<\/p>\r\n

This time the situation improved. In most places.<\/p>\r\n

What's annoying - like last time, a few weeks ago, this time too the writer skips (intentionally?) Modi'in Illit. Last time, when this happened, she told me about the municipality's lack of cooperation.<\/p>\r\n

I argued to her that it was precisely non-cooperation that should lead to a supreme effort to expose the difficult data (there is discrimination! Some girls are going to be sitting at home in a week).<\/p>\r\n

So either the writer doesn't read the section or she wasn't able to figure out the 'secret' data.<\/p>\r\n

When it comes to elite intelligence, anything is possible...<\/p>\r\n

8.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

If you, the political reporters, have already decided to go on vacation, please leave blank white pages, fill them with other interesting material, whatever you want \u2013 just don't fill us with PR materials, without framing them as such.<\/p>\r\n

The applause for Deri's so-called "Plan 3" move is a bit exaggerated. So, right, he's going for a move of rallies all over the country, and so what? That's why the controversy in Shas will stop? That's why Eli Yishai (not Eli, his people) will no longer plan a split and a new party under one umbrella or another? That's why different camps in Shas won't feel disadvantaged (Rabbi Amar's people, people from Beit Rabbi Zacharias)?<\/p>\r\n

So it's true that there is a reservation. "It's hard to know whether the rallies that charmed hundreds of thousands in the 1990s will also speak to the young audience of 2014," but when it appears alongside a song of praise for Deri "registering his name in the registry office for the end of discrimination in Jerusalem (no, it's not Shai Piron, the Minister of Education, who imposed his terror on the administrators and threatened to freeze budgets), and a whole bunch of other praise and glorification for Barakat (when 'Yated Ne'eman' and representatives of 'Degel' never stop complaining about Sabbath desecrations and other things that are embarrassing, but what did Deri tell the writer of the lines? "I don't read Yated Ne'eman") - it's a bit funny...<\/p>\r\n

Yes, Deri is out in the field, "hearing the public's heartbeat and knowing that Shas is not built for controversy... We have a character of peace, of unity," after all, "I have never alienated anyone.".<\/p>\r\n

Okay, so to begin with, I would like to see an honorary invitation sent to the beloved son of the Gra"a Yosef, the man who heads the "Bad"ts Beit Yosef",\u00a0In which he will be invited to participate in a rally in memory of...his father. Just like that, because Shas is not built for controversy, just because its chairman "hears the public's heartbeat," and because "we have a character of peace, of unity.".<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Speaking of field reporters, 'Yom Liom' also tried its hand. Its reporter sailed all the way to the far northern city of Haifa just to check out why there is no synagogue in Ramot Sapir.<\/p>\r\n

Good advice? This kind of article is worth doing over the phone. Too bad about the fuel, this is not what a classic field reporter is defined as. Instead, you would send him a hundred kilometers south, to the Erez crossing, just for example, or to an observation point over Gaza, somewhere near the city of Sderot.<\/p>\r\n

For us, the readers, it was much more fascinating.<\/p>\r\n

10.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

So it's true that there weren't any fascinating field reports in the family magazine (Hillel's article about the chairman of a religious council in Jerusalem doesn't fascinate us, and an article about the Hidabrot organization also reminds us a bit of a PR reporter - you too, in Beited Ne'eman, get it - a PR reporter for kosher organizations isn't really interesting as a magazine reporter), but it's hard to ignore three fascinating articles in the family magazine, which this time is the one that 'puts' 'in the community' in its pocket (usually it's the other way around, when it comes to a magazine) - three interviews with interesting personalities. Inhale!<\/p>\r\n

I also found one of these in 'Bakhila', which was very successful: an article about a father and baby, Khairy al-Shangali and his little son, who fled the terror of ISIS (read about the organization in good and extensive articles in 'Yom Yom' and 'Yated Ne'eman').<\/p>\r\n

The father is staying in an ancient stone house in Jerusalem, the child in his arms, eating white chocolate, being treated at Wolfson Hospital, where the toddler underwent chest surgery.<\/p>\r\n
