It would be good for the young among us to ask their elders to tell them about the events of this week, fifty-three years ago, in 1967. It is important that the younger generation feel the great anxiety that surrounded the residents of this country and the Jews of the world, in the face of the sharpening of swords in Arab capitals.<\/p>\r\n
This was definitely not a game. Arab leaders openly talked about destroying Israel and throwing all the Jews into the sea.<\/p>\r\n
It is important to remember that in those days there was no problem of 'occupied territories.' Jerusalem was divided, no Jewish foot had set foot in the Cave of the Patriarchs, and no one dreamed of Efrat and Ariel. There was only one small problem \u2013 the fact that we exist.<\/p>\r\n
This is what the Arab nation aspired to eradicate.<\/p>\r\n
Then the great miracle occurred, which left the entire world in awe. Within six days, the small, besieged and threatened nation managed to repel its attackers, drive them back many kilometers, and stabilize the front within safe borders.<\/p>\r\n
An indescribable joy then flooded hearts.<\/p>\r\n
What did Jews dream about?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n But for the Jewish heart, there was one thing that stirred a burst of intense, inexplicable emotion \u2013 the liberation of Jerusalem. Kibbutz members, who knew nothing about Judaism, stood and wept in front of the stones of the Western Wall.<\/p>\r\n Crowds of Jews, from Israel and around the world, flocked to the holy places: the Western Wall, Rachel's Tomb, the Cave of the Patriarchs. With great reverence and excitement, Jewish feet walked on these precious pieces of land, the heart of the Land of Israel.<\/p>\r\n Throughout the years of exile, when Jews longed for the Land of Israel, they dreamed of Jerusalem and Hebron, of Bethlehem and the land of Samaria. These are the regions of the land within which the Bible took place, where the judges, prophets and kings lived and worked. This is the Land of Israel from which we were expelled and to which we returned, by the miracles of God.<\/p>\r\n It's a shame about the years wasted on false illusions, cultivated by Arab propaganda, as if the conflict between us and the Arab world is the 'occupation', and that if we only agree to give up the territories we 'conquered', true peace will be established here and we will live in a 'new Middle East'.<\/p>\r\n Years of experience have proven that the entire policy of concessions was ridiculous and naive, a blind walk into a pit of death.<\/p>\r\n The leaders of this policy did not understand that they were strengthening the enemy who wanted to destroy them. Every concession pushed peace further away, increased terror, and planted more hopes in the hearts of our enemies that they could drive us out of here.<\/p>\r\n Forever grip<\/strong><\/p>\r\n Over the years, God has opened our eyes to understand that the time has come to reach out and accept the wonderful gift He has given us. After seeing what we did to ourselves with the withdrawal from Gaza, it is now clear to every intelligent person that if we do not hold on to Judea and Samaria and the Golan Heights, we will not be able to live in peace in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem either.<\/p>\r\n We now have a golden opportunity to repair the serious damage caused by the policy of appeasement, which created expectations in the world of the establishment of a terrorist state in the heart of the land.
