The Russians have found a new way to spread problematic messages and malware: using a popular singer whose songs are viewed at high rates on social networks, the Mako website reported.<\/p>\r\n
Researchers at the information security firm Eset claim that a Russian hacker group called Turla, which has been responsible for many attacks in the past, most of which are precisely aimed at surfers who happen to be diplomats and statesmen, especially in Eastern European countries, decided to use a popular American singer named Spears.<\/p>\r\n
How does it work? Russian hackers sent a message to computers to download a Firefox browser extension that pretends to be a security booster, giving hackers full access to their computer to steal confidential materials.<\/p>\r\n
Now, hackers have entered the successful singer's comments page, and their software reads the comments of the many surfers, and looks for a certain character that looks on the screen like a regular space between words, but is actually a special character. Then it connects the characters that appear after each of the spaces and connects them to a shortened address (Bitly) that points to the hackers' command server.<\/p>\r\n
