They use big, important words that have a lot behind them, but unfortunately, in practice, construction starts in Jerusalem, relative to the size of the city and the importance of the city, are very few compared to cities in the center of the country. This is the capital, it is the most important city, and in any case the attitude is not as it should be. There are many bureaucratic difficulties on the part of the municipality, both in evacuation and construction and in the various TAMA programs. The Ministry of Housing, for its part, also does not often publish tenders, and in any case until a few tenders are issued that should have been quickly put to market, then the municipality itself delays them for one reason or another, under the guise of supposedly implementing a government decision to favor housing projects for the security forces and the like.".<\/p>\r\n
MK Asher attacked Mayor Barkat, who was present at the hearing, and said: You are right that there is a government decision to give priority to the security forces, but why take the tender in Ramot that was originally intended for the Haredi public, when you have a project of 700 housing units in Gilo that could have been intended for the security forces. But that is only because Ramot is a Haredi neighborhood. You talk a lot about the development and renewal of the city, but when you come to solutions, you make sure to stick them in because of various agendas, and in order to stop the development of a neighborhood that is mostly Haredi.<\/p>\r\n
The second generation that wants to live here and new people who want to live here - they don't have the option. The city is big, there's space, but there's almost no new construction in the city. The potential should be much greater in relation to the size and importance of the city.<\/p>\r\n
