For the seventh time, the annual and prestigious cantor concert of 'Emona Jerusalem' took place this week, at the 'Henry Crown' concert hall at the Jerusalem Theater.<\/p>\r\n
The concert was attended by the greatest cantors in Israel and abroad: Simon Cohen, Haim David Berson, Daniel Kaltov, Avrimy Kershenbaum, and they were joined by violinist Gabriel Shuraki and the prodigy Itamar Hajavi, accompanied by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and Richard Shevitsion's choir - 'Ramatimem', conducted by Maestro Eli Yaffe.<\/p>\r\n
The concert, which over the years has become Cantor Simon Cohen's flagship project, has become known as one of the most prestigious concerts in Jewish music in Israel.<\/p>\r\n
A few days before the concert, Cohen returned from a two-week stay in London - where he performed at various events, Shabbat prayers and prestigious canopies.<\/p>\r\n
In a conversation with him, he says: "This time too, we were able to produce a unique concert that combined the best artists and styles. I was privileged to lead this wonderful thing for the 'Women of Faith' organization in Jerusalem. Despite the high ticket prices, all the tickets were sold. I am happy that we were able to bring to Jerusalem quality Jewish music that gives true expression to the cantorial repertoire of all generations, combined with various other styles.".<\/p>\r\n
The concert focused on 'classics, Broadway and cantor' and incorporated a wide variety of repertoire, from cantor to opera, from Jerusalem to Broadway, all in extraordinary musical harmony with the cantors, artists and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and combined with the incessant applause of the large audience in the hall.<\/p>\r\n
Among the many performances that took place on the unforgettable evening, the works that stood out were: Talmud's "Praise the Lord," Yisrael Shor's "Ki Mitzvah," Green's "Shema Yisrael" by Leibel Glantz. Also performed were Puccini's "A' Lutzban la Stella," and Verdi's "Va Paniciaro.".<\/p>\r\n
