The last few days, difficult as they may have been, have revealed to us a little about the unity of the Jewish people. We have been blessed with what is good for us.<\/p>\r\n
The aforementioned situation connects me to a small and moving incident that I witnessed and was present at.<\/p>\r\n
A little story about great 'friends'.<\/p>\r\n
In Jerusalem, there is a Torah scholar, a God-fearing man, whose precious time is very important to him, and not only to him. Many good people seek his help and need his advice and guidance, and his spiritual ascension is assured.<\/p>\r\n
This being the case, the poor man was forced to own a vehicle.<\/p>\r\n
For those who don't know, the well-known 'Subaru Avrechim' of the early 1990s is now being replaced by a slightly improved surviving model, the 'Suzuki Baleno'. Five thousand shekels in cash, and you have one that will accelerate at will and slow down at will (the aforementioned price does not include ongoing maintenance fees, insurance, and wear and tear. T.L.H.).<\/p>\r\n
It is clear that if you have ever touched the aforementioned vehicle, or just looked at it casually and unintentionally, then an extraordinary tragedy will unfold before your eyes: the Suzuki Baleno family is known for two recurring malfunctions, to the point that certain professionals specialize specifically in this vehicle and its particular malfunctions.<\/p>\r\n
One problem is with the power window mechanism, and the other is with the exterior door handles.<\/p>\r\n
For the most part, in one of the four doors of this vehicle, anywhere in the country, there was or still is a malfunction in pulling the handle and disabling it.<\/p>\r\n
And why do you need to know this terribly important detail?<\/p>\r\n
Well, it was this specific problem that caused our dear friend to join the sad statistics of people whose car keys are left inside the locked vehicle.<\/p>\r\n
The door, which was supposedly supposed to reopen after being closed with the keys accidentally left inside (a minor mistake), remained stuck in place, as did the venerable Abraham.<\/p>\r\n
The father's time, which, as mentioned above, is precious and limited, was now even more important. He had been asked a few minutes earlier to go to his little son's school and remove him from the place, as his body temperature had exceeded what was permissible while in the company of children. The child was in the daycare, behind a locked vehicle without a key, and he had no recourse.<\/p>\r\n
While he was pondering and racking his brain with attempts and tricks, I also stumbled upon a place and a website I recommended to him about the 'Friends' organization that employs dozens of volunteers (!) spread throughout the country, with the subject of their volunteering being the case before us: breaking into vehicle doors.<\/p>\r\n
He didn't believe me, he even giggled.<\/p>\r\n
\""Are you serious?" he asked, "Why would anyone do that?"\"<\/p>\r\n
He really couldn't understand what would motivate a civilized person from the village to volunteer for something other than saving lives.<\/p>\r\n
The truth is, this has always been a puzzle to me.<\/p>\r\n
In the case of 'Hatzala', ZAKA and the like, their volunteerism saves lives, and blessed is he who saves one soul from Israel. But an organization designed to repair flat tires in the middle of nowhere on a volunteer basis? Strange.<\/p>\r\n
Strange, until that day.<\/p>\r\n
Note the rapid sequence of events from here on: The young man called the Yedidim hotline and was answered immediately. After clarifying his request, he was told that a certain hotline operator located in that specific area would get back to him within a few minutes (!) And indeed, after about three minutes, he receives a call back from the same volunteer who really wants to help, but what can he do, the hacking tools are not available to him at the moment.<\/p>\r\n
While the child is racking his brains and trying to find an alternative solution, the volunteer's voice is heard on the other side of the line, offering instead his personal help in getting the child out of the daycare.<\/p>\r\n
The creative and Jewish solution seemed unworkable, and then a suggestion was made to ask for the help of another volunteer located on the other side of the city. The conversation ended with little hope. It was hard to imagine that anyone would bother going to an area outside their volunteering area for no reason.<\/p>\r\n
But then it happened.<\/p>\r\n
The cell phone rang, and on the line was Shayka Blei, a standard volunteer in the wonderful organization, who faithfully promised to do everything in his power to save. Within minutes, the new volunteer had the tools to break into the car, standing next to that famous Suzuki.<\/p>\r\n
The break-in itself lasted about a minute and a half. Sheikah Blei packed up his tools and turned to leave.<\/p>\r\n
I didn't let him, and I directed the boy's bewilderment at him: "All this to save time? - Well done!"\"<\/p>\r\n
