What is written in the Torah proves that it was Pharaoh who oppressed the Israelites, not the Egyptian people. But they punished us with locusts that left nothing behind; with a plague that turned the waters of the Nile red so that no one could drink from them; with a plague of darkness; with a plague of frogs; and with a plague that killed all the firstborn sons.&quot; The journalist is not satisfied with compensation for the plagues. He goes on to claim that the Israelites took from the Egyptians a great deal of property that was used for their journey through the desert. &quot;We want compensation in the form of gold, silver, copper, precious stones, cloth, skins, meat, wool, and other materials that I will mention later -
