Minister Shaked announced that the prosecution had decided to reopen the investigation into the accident that killed Gal Bak. &quot;Following public pressure,&quot; the newspapers wrote. Some of the news items actually stated that the police had already collected evidence in the case a week or two earlier.\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">If the investigation has only just resumed, how has evidence been collected yet?<\/span>\r\n\r\nThe misleading headlines of Wednesday and Thursday are just one expression of what is happening in this deceptive affair. It is important not to mix things up. The investigation by Ayala Hasson and Yifat Glick on Channel 1&#039;s &quot;Yoman&quot; is an important investigation. The question marks that the investigation raised around that accident ten years ago must be clarified. That is clear. But it must also be said that the conspiratorial engine that drives this affair seems a bit exaggerated. Senior officials in the Attorney General&#039;s Office are spreading a factual mask that sterilizes most of the poison circulating around this story. True, those senior officials are an interested party, and yet, the facts they are raising do not really exist in the public debate. 1. There is no evidence that the Tel Aviv District Attorney at the time, Ruth David, was involved in any way in the case. She was mentioned in the investigation. The corruption case in which she is suspected led to the opening of the whole wound, but the misinformation surrounding this case does not reveal any involvement on her part. If this is the case, then the whole theory that a corrupt prosecutor closed the case because she received something falls apart. 2. Desi Forer, the prosecutor who was interviewed on the radio to represent the prosecutor&#039;s position, is also not connected to that accident case. Why is this important? Because conspiracy theories have already linked Forer, a die-hard fan of Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball, to the lawyer for the family of the offending driver, Shimon Mizrahi, chairman of Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball. In other words, it was not Mizrahi&#039;s phone call to Forer that led to the case being closed, because Forer is not connected to this case at all. 3. In the &#039;Yoman&#039; investigation, a driver was interviewed who said that his testimony was not recorded in real time and if it had been recorded, he would have testified that he saw the offending driver run the red light. The police immediately took the driver&#039;s testimony after the investigation. According to senior prosecutors, in his testimony he said that he did not see for sure when the offending driver ran the red light. 4. The strongest finding of the investigation was what the key witness in the case, a taxi driver, said in real time that the driver ran the green light and to the hidden camera, ten years later, changed her testimony 180 degrees. This driver She was taken for a new police interrogation and changed her testimony again. She testified that the driver did not cross the intersection on a red light. Is someone putting pressure on her? It is possible, but it is also important to remember that her first real-time testimony was taken an hour and a half after the accident. How likely is it for the family of the disruptive driver to have someone come to this driver in that hour and a half? Difficult, but not impossible. In the new testimony, the taxi driver explained that what she said to the hidden camera was said while she was under the influence of all kinds of substances. It doesn&#039;t sound particularly convincing, but from contradictory testimonies from a taxi driver, it is unfair to build a case of a corrupt prosecution.\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u2022<\/p>\r\nIt is impossible not to raise another disturbing point here. Immediately after the Channel One investigation, violent Facebook pages against the offending driver went online with her picture. Some of the Facebook pages even tagged the driver&#039;s mother and found it appropriate to mention her senior position at El Al. In Tam&#039;s view, this looks like a fight from another world being waged against the mother through the daughter. The reactions on social media also seem a bit exaggerated in their intensity, as if there is some deliberate hand behind this whole story. It is interesting to pour all this incendiary material into the debate over the powers of the Audit Commission over the Attorney General&#039;s Office. Perhaps the amount of criticism being poured on the Attorney General&#039;s Office in this affair will finally convince the Attorney General&#039;s Committee of the need for such a commission with teeth? Let the attorneys just imagine how much cleaner everything would have looked if the day after the investigation in &#039;Yoman&#039; was published, an investigation by an independent body, like the Audit Commission, had begun. The opening of the Gal Beck case is important, but what was most disturbing about this story is the argument that someone closed the case intentionally, out of extraneous considerations. Who is investigating this matter now? Nobody.
