Buns after Passover.<\/strong> \""There is no sight more repulsive than those who, on the eve of the holiday, run to the bakeries to buy rolls." This statement, in different semantic variants (what, can't they help themselves? They push like animals), but with the same meaning, is what people are used to saying at the sight of the lines of bread buyers on the 21st of Nisan at night, at the end of the holiday of Passover.<\/p>\r\n

And really, what can't they wait for? What will happen in a few hours?<\/p>\r\n

But then, a small, old window opens (with the old shutters), and Rabbi Levi Yitzhak's face is visible through it, and he looks deeply at the long line and says to himself: So many Jews have eaten the bread of poverty for eight days, while in doing so they continue a tradition spanning thousands of generations of eating dry, bland, not to mention repulsive bread, which surprisingly also costs a fortune.<\/p>\r\n

These Jews did not wipe the chopped liver on their plate with the thin, crispy, and undercooked pastry, did not soak it in the spicy fish sauce, and even grimaced when they dipped it in the sloppy soup with the dumplings \u2013 just because you, God, said so.<\/p>\r\n

They may have been disappointed when, on Shabbat night after the "Blessing of the Deliverer," the graceless cracking sound of the hard square was heard, distributed to those who had searched in vain for the hummus, tahini, and homemade matbucha, and yet they remembered: This is what is permitted to be eaten, even if there is a certain gap between the current "bread" - and the sweet challah of Vizhnitz.<\/p>\r\n

Now they are happily returning to the inertia of a normal, familiar, modern lifestyle, and they do not feel like many other Jews, who see eating preserved matzah (85 shekels per kilogram, in the cheapest case) as some kind of pagan and illogical custom, unsuitable for the 21st century.<\/p>\r\n

How beautiful these queues are.<\/p>\r\n

The buttons? A question of placement<\/strong>. The holiday of Passover \u2013 Chol Hamoed, its holidays, and the Shabbat that follows it, are the happy hour of two polar populations on the Lithuanian street: the paramilitary and their opponents.<\/p>\r\n

\""Tell me," Shmulik, my friend, turns on the seventh night of Passover to another friend named Kobi, or perhaps it would be better to say "Rabbi Yankeb": Now that you are wearing a "frock coat" in honor of the holiday, are you allowed to wear it on the upcoming Shabbat as well, since after all it is adjacent to the holiday, or is it Shabbat after all, and on Shabbat you are not allowed to wear a rabbinical robe?<\/p>\r\n

Rabbi Yankeb did not smile, for he understood that Shmulik's face was not for peace.<\/p>\r\n

His proud gait, and the arrogance that gripped him when he arrived in his shiny tailcoat on the first night of a holiday, and greeted everyone with a slow and heavy-headed "Got Yom Tov" - were also slightly damaged.<\/p>\r\n

But then a fascinating psychosocial insight dawned on me: both the one who wears the tailcoat, and the one who makes sure not to wear it, are both preoccupied with the issue of the special garment, and each sees it as one of their status symbols.<\/p>\r\n

Shmulik, who makes a point of flaunting a short black suit, glorifies his self-image when he makes it clear to himself that he is 'in no hurry to wear a haughty, and especially ridiculous, tailcoat.'.<\/p>\r\n

His personal identity, which is composed like anyone else of many personality components, also includes the component of 'not wearing a tailcoat, like all those nobles,' and he feels satisfaction.<\/p>\r\n

Rabbi Yankeb (Koby), believes, as he quietly noted in my ear later, that 'when there is a tailcoat in the closet, your attitude towards yourself is different, more honorable.' Wearing his tailcoat on a holiday, on Chol HaMoed, and at his sister's wedding is not a place to boast about others. It is part of his personal identity.\u00a0Frack as a self-status definer.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n

In response to her letter<\/strong>: A new book of letters by one of the greatest of recent generations has recently been published, except that unlike classic 'letter collections', its target audience is slightly different, and not entirely conventional for 'letters': women.<\/p>\r\n

The title, published by Dani Sfarim, contains 295 pages of some of the letters that the Lubavitcher Rebbe sent to the thousands [perhaps tens of thousands] of women who approached him over the years with questions of outlook, distress, leadership, blessings, etc.<\/p>\r\n

Among the many letters I found the following beautiful lines:<\/p>\r\n

In response to a letter from the Rakhshavn... who has not yet been paired<\/p>\r\n

Regarding undesirable matters from the past, the teaching of our Torah is well known \u2013 the Torah of Life, which states that every person can correct and preserve their affairs from here to hereafter, and that true regret for the past, combined with a good acceptance for the future, is beneficial...<\/p>\r\n

... One must recognize reality as it is, that there is no perfection in the world, and therefore one should not seek and rummage after those who come with them in familiarity, and especially taking into account that even the seeker is not in the state of perfection, and when one looks favorably upon the children of Israel and pays attention to the main point [good virtues, leading on the right path is the path of the Torah and the mitzvah, etc.], then in any case one sees how the treated one does not need to occupy more space than his value, and that the main point is in perfection, then this is decisive for saying that they are...<\/p>\r\n
