Over the past few months, I have been accused more than once of exceeding my journalistic duties and showing a 'lack of objectivity' in relation to various events, incidents, and personalities.<\/p>\r\n
My activity, which is mainly expressed in writing articles as well as interviews on various platforms, was a nuisance in the eyes of those who favor the very body against which I acted, and insults such as "You are not fulfilling your role," or "I expected a little more integrity from you" were heard more than once in the talkbacks and personal messages addressed to me.<\/p>\r\n
I see no need to comment on the curses, the profanity, or the phone call from the lawyer's office of a certain political movement, in an attempt to intimidate me, but with respect to the claims, which appear to be legitimate, I would like to speak frankly.<\/p>\r\n
I admit it. I have an opinion, and I am not objective.<\/p>\r\n
Moreover, I believe that there is no such thing as an 'objective journalist.' A reporter, commentator, or publicist who says he is objective is either a liar or a coward who is afraid to stand behind his words.<\/p>\r\n
In the 1950s, a new journalistic movement called 'New Journalism' began to flourish in the American media field. According to the proponents of the approach, led by the giants of journalism, the American Hunter Thompson and the Israeli Adam Baruch, there is really no ability to produce objective-neutral journalism. Such an attempt not only fails to reflect reality, as it claims, but does exactly the opposite. Thus, the New Journalism style of writing developed, characterized by lightness, 'thin language', and freedom, and makes the journalist part of the story.<\/p>\r\n
So what is required of a journalist?<\/p>\r\n
To be honest. That is, when he publishes a news story, he must make an effort with all his mental abilities not to distort empirical reality due to his personal feelings.<\/p>\r\n
He must also allow those who do not identify with his positions to express their positions without any censorship, and he must make it clear to his readership whether he is voicing his opinions from an ideological position, or for reward, financial or otherwise.<\/p>\r\n
