What will Chabad followers vote for? A question that accompanies every election campaign.<\/p>\r\n
Sometimes I have the feeling that Chabad followers are a bit dismissive of the question and its asking. Some see it as mere curiosity, while others see it as teasing.<\/p>\r\n
But I tend to think that this is a case of "Torah is what I need to study." Many want to hear the Lubavitcher Rebbe's opinion on the matter.<\/p>\r\n
The Lubavitcher Rebbe imposed a great burden and heavy responsibility on his followers, almost like breaking the barrel and preserving the wine. I almost said that with the Rebbe, everything is possible. Yes, both breaking the barrel and preserving the wine. But for this, one must make an effort and dedicate oneself. We said "mission," the power of the messenger.<\/p>\r\n
A greater burden is placed on the Hasidim. This burden is taken on by the Hasidim themselves: to publicly declare how they understand the Rebbe's opinion.<\/p>\r\n
One can bury one's head in the sand, under the pretext that the Rebbe ordered not to interfere in politics. But voting in elections is not just a political question - and I wonder: is it even a political question?<\/p>\r\n
Perhaps each person's private vote is secret, and surely everyone is fulfilling the Rebbe's instruction, "It is a sacred duty and right to vote," but the community's vote is open to all in Kfar Chabad, Kiryat Malachi, and other polling stations in distinctly Chabad neighborhoods.<\/p>\r\n
Voting in elections defines how the Hasidim understand the Rebbe's instructions. How the Chabad Hasidim understand the Rebbe's definition of "ultra-Orthodox.".<\/span><\/p>\r\n There is no doubt that the Rebbe did not mean the length of the wigs, the height of the shtreimel or the spodik. His opinion is illuminated in the series 'Torat Menachem', explained in 'Likkutei Sichot' and detailed in thousands of 'Igrot Kodesh'. Politicians do not flock there. Advertisers have not yet arrived either. "The Torah is placed in a corner, and whoever wants to take it, let him come and take it.".<\/p>\r\n Ostensibly, the Rebbe wrote and stated the rules in the clearest possible way, but the Rebbe left it up to each follower to examine himself, his spiritual state, and how he understands the Rebbe's words as "a person created to serve his Creator.".<\/p>\r\n How will the world be built as a dwelling place for God, since "the Holy One, blessed be He, asked to make a dwelling for Him in the underworld"?
