I knocked on the door, a light knock.<\/p>\r\n
I didn't want the door to open. I came because I was sent, but I didn't want to be there. There's a bell next to every door, and knocking on the door won't bring my knock to unwanted ears, as far as I'm concerned.<\/p>\r\n
With no choice, I had to ring the bell. I pressed the bell button. For me, buttons of this type are distress buttons. Not the kind that calls for help, but the kind where pressing it itself defines the expression of distress. As the bell rang, I heard a friendly voice inviting me to come inside, plus a sound that symbolized the opening of a door.<\/p>\r\n
I entered through the door that was opened for me. In front of me stood a desk, behind which sat a distinguished lady, who introduced herself as the chairman's secretary.<\/p>\r\n
With a half-smile and a half-voice, she asked me the reason for my arrival. But since a secretary's job is to forget, I insisted on speaking to the chairman in person. The secretary politely refused to allow me to meet, saying that the chairman was very busy, but in the face of my graceful insistence she could not refuse, and so after a failed attempt at resistance on her part, the chairman made himself available.<\/p>\r\n
I was led respectfully to the chairman's room.<\/p>\r\n
In the center of the chairman's room stood a large table, at the head of which sat a man of tall build and short stature, alternately balding, wearing glasses that were neither large nor small, just thick.<\/p>\r\n
He justifies his title of "Chairman" by sitting at the head. The faithful secretary introduced him to me and said in a loud and important voice: "The Chairman sits before you.".<\/p>\r\n
I'm apparently not worthy of being on display.<\/p>\r\n
The one sitting at the head, known as the chairman, squinted at me through his glasses. And I, without any manners, and without the slightest moment of hesitation, burst out in a silent speech with which I had been equipped in advance.<\/p>\r\n
And so, from the beginning to the end, I brought up what was on my heart (or on the heart of my sender). I told him that I was looking for a profession to acquire. He smiled with feigned kindness and said: "You have indeed come to the right institute, we will help you choose a profession.".<\/p>\r\n
I chuckled lightly and told him that the rhyme didn't really rhyme with him, but since I had already arrived at the institute, I would give him a chance to choose a major for me.<\/p>\r\n
He took me back to the secretary, who called a tall examiner, who led me through long corridors leading to rooms with computers, and into one of these rooms he took me and sat me down next to a tall, portable computer. He even explained to me what the various buttons meant, but I didn't understand a thing.<\/p>\r\n
He commanded as if asking: "Press the space bar on the keyboard." But computers and I don't get along well with each other, so I searched and searched. On each key was written either letters in Hebrew and another foreign language, or numbers with symbols or digits. But I couldn't find the word space or any hint of it.<\/p>\r\n
I was already completely discouraged, but the fact that he insisted that the key appear on the keyboard did not allow the buds of despair to rain academic destruction on me.<\/p>\r\n
After quite a while of searching, I asked the person sitting to my right for help (it turns out I'm not the only one who uses a computer to choose a profession): "Where is the spacebar?" I asked him in a whisper.<\/p>\r\n
He showed me the long, empty key. I was surprised, the small keys have an inscription that gives a clue to their essence, while on such a long key they couldn't find a place to put his name on it, or at least a clue.<\/p>\r\n
I sat down with this doubt in front of the computer and it turned out that it wasn't my only doubt.<\/p>\r\n
On the screen in front of me, a question was asked: "Are you realistic?"\"<\/p>\r\n
I immediately pinched myself to check that I wasn't dreaming, and when it hurt, I screamed. The man sitting to my left wasn't particularly graceful from the start, scolding me angrily and saying, "You're disturbing my concentration." I realized that I was in reality, and this wasn't imagination. So I answered yes.<\/p>\r\n
The computer asked if I wanted to be an accountant. I told myself that I really wanted to see an account, but every time I see an account I have a line to the left of the number. I also mentioned the fact that the only thing I saw this week was sheep, so I'd better be a sheep watcher (not a shepherd).<\/p>\r\n
The computer suggested I become a lawyer. I wrote to him that since I am a "lawyer and a judge," there is no need to acquire a degree to be unemployed. Because today I am already unemployed, even without the degree.<\/p>\r\n
As a child, I toyed with the idea of \u200b\u200bbecoming a doctor someday. But I couldn't decide whether it would be conventional or alternative medicine, or maybe I should dabble in herbal medicine. What suited me best was a medical clown, but I remembered that they always say about clowns how sad they are, and I didn't want to be sad.<\/p>\r\n
I ruled out psychology, because I have no place to store other people's problems. And I also ruled out various treatments, because who would take care of me.<\/p>\r\n
High tech, what are these two words? They explained to me that they are computers. The computer itself answered the question and disqualified me.<\/p>\r\n
At the end of the questionnaire, I realized that I had come to the wrong institute, took a desk, a computer, and a secretary, and sat down at the head.<\/p>\r\n
