\"\"\u00a0Holocaust Remembrance Day has just passed, and like every year, the almost ritualistic newspaper headlines about the exploits of the ultra-Orthodox last night, the eve of Holocaust Remembrance Day, were published.<\/p>\r\n

And this time on the program: Beit Shean police arrested two staff members from a well-known yeshiva in Jerusalem, where about a hundred of its students were sitting in a park and eating grilled meats - barbecue, on the night of Holocaust Remembrance Day.<\/p>\r\n

There would be no.<\/p>\r\n

The lawbreakers were immediately removed from the scene they had caused and the team members - the 'responsible adults' - were detained for questioning and investigation at the Beit Shean police station. The difficult incident was published that night on the news networks with bold headlines, and was already the main 'item' of the newscast.<\/p>\r\n

The pain, it turns out, was unbearable, and a number of people in power were forced to appear on the news channels and condemn the shameful and unfortunate phenomenon of desecrating the holy day with food and feasting, debauchery and debauchery.<\/p>\r\n

On the other hand, on the other side of the scale, the runners came out in force about the Haredi editor who ordered to 'expose' shameful photographs of seculars who also desecrate the holy Holocaust Memorial Day. And indeed, the reactions were not long in coming and they were also smeared with appropriate headlines: "A soldier in uniform was photographed sitting on a bus and did not stand up at the siren" was the Haredi headline. "Seculars play soccer without shame," added a Haredi media person to his own item.<\/p>\r\n

And it already seemed like the situation was leveling off at a draw between the secular and the ultra-Orthodox...<\/p>\r\n\r\n

How did we get dragged into this shameful game?<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n

In Tori I would like to say one word: shame. Shame and disgrace.<\/p>\r\n

Only the shame is on us. The Haredim. How we were dragged into the disgusting game of slander, and found ourselves attributing to Holocaust Remembrance Day the delusional attitude that they, the secularists, attribute to it: a miserable attitude that imitates the laws of the Gentiles - a personal import from the sons of Esau.<\/p>\r\n

When we give way, when we choose to respond in the same language, even if indirectly through identical images [a female soldier sitting with a siren] from the other side, we are admitting failure, admitting our mistakes and trying to deal with the evil that has come out of our hands.<\/p>\r\n

This is a mistaken approach. For nothing was done to Didan. The day was not profaned, nor was the male denied.<\/p>\r\n

Would they want to think so? On the contrary. They will be busy with the cauldron they have cooked for themselves. For some reason, many of us tend to think that 'Kiddush Hashem' means dancing 'Ma Yafit' in front of the Israelis on the other side, the scavengers and predators.<\/p>\r\n

This is not the case. There is no sanctification here and there is no desecration here. It is not possible that, due to the lack of a kippah and a tzitzit, a man from Savyon decides that this or that act is 'good' and a different act is 'bad'.<\/p>\r\n

Let me be clear, I do not intend to defy or actively shatter conventions, even if they are false. Yes, there is a desire here to stand up and rebel, literally, against the injustice that is done year after year in memory of the martyrs of that terrible period.<\/p>\r\n

If an ultra-Orthodox barbecue desecrates the memory of my grandmother, may God bless her soul, who perished in agony in the Birkenau extermination camp, then what does a barbecue on Shabbat night do to the memory of Moses, the father of the nation? If ridiculously failing to stand for a silent siren desecrates the victims of the Auschwitz camp, then what does failing to stand for the Shemona Esra prayer do to the memory of our ancestors who gave their lives for Judaism?<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The audacity of the secular monopoly<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n

At the end of the day, we are faced with cheap demagogy, a worthless provocation by a handful of media figures, who are forced to bring a hot and fresh item - and what is hotter than an ultra-Orthodox person who does not listen to conventions?<\/p>\r\n

How did a light dinner in the Middle Ages become blasphemy, while eating carrion and debauchery is not? Taking the monopoly on determining the parameters for honoring the perished is no less impudent.<\/p>\r\n

In a few days, the media's 'celebrations' (literally) will begin again in preparation for IDF Martyrs' Memorial Day. By the way, my saints are supreme, and who will stand between them?.<\/p>\r\n

Photographers are probably already standing at attention in parks and city gardens and will try to capture the celebrating Haredim or those walking when the sirens sound.<\/p>\r\n

It might be worth announcing now: We are not apologizing!<\/p>\r\n

We do not support, God forbid, any "devakai" act, but we do not condemn it either.<\/p>\r\n

Just like with the victims of the Holocaust, here too, the memory of a family member who fell in the battle of Bint Jabel will not be honored, a secular man with a bare head and an earring standing on a main road with his head bowed.
