But in the last class, dozens of doctors, who come every week from all over the country to hear the complicated questions from the world of halakhic and medicine, stood there, lingering over the unusual words of the posek, who chose to attack the health funds for a serious mistake, according to him, that they are making - when instead of adding life-saving medications to the health basket, they 'spill' money into nothing on massive advertising and increased public relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rabbi Zilberstein's lesson dealt with a complex question about necessary medical treatment that is very expensive, while the health insurance only pays for it in very specific cases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The patient sent his question - in what cases is he allowed to receive the subsidy, when from a medical point of view he must receive it, and only because of the complex criteria is he not eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rabbi Zilberstein went on to present numerous sources and reasons to establish the halachic ruling concerning the questioner, but in the process, he found it appropriate to raise the issue with the doctors and other participants in the class who work in the field of medicine, regarding a painful point that concerns many patients:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"<\/strong>I think the doctor is right, although health funds are partners' money, but all of this would be if the partners were asked about all the expenses. But since the health funds are pouring money... pouring, you say why did I write pouring? Because an institution like that that spends money on large advertisements in newspapers, that's called wasting money. Have you seen the ads? Whole pages, what is that? A whole page? A fortune in money! So I wrote 'pouring', they pour the money, without justification, on things that the public clearly wouldn't agree to, such as massive advertising, public relations, unrelated to medicine, and the like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \""They also authorize many unnecessary tests for pregnant women, which also cost a lot of money, and they act disproportionately in these tests. So that's why we say,\u00a0There is no justification for what they say.<\/strong>, and it is permissible to disregard their words and there is no basis for allowing them to waste this money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \""But when it comes to older people, who need life-saving medications, that's where they come in."\u00a0To incomprehensible stinginess<\/strong>. Who? Health insurance. What do they say? There's no hundred here, there's no..., a few points are missing. That's stinginess. And they have strict rules. And that someone with a protein level of 195 is not in danger? Why does it have to be exactly 200 in order to receive a subsidy? And what's more, it could change within a month, it's constantly changing. So that's why I say that honesty is not listening to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \""In my opinion, the public would prefer that the money from health funds be given first to life-saving drugs. And as long as they don't ask the public what to do with the money, it's impossible to say that this is a theft of public money. This is called public money. If the health fund had consulted with all of these people, if they had consulted with all the patients, who would have agreed to this advertisement? This full-page advertisement costs a lot of money. What's more, there are sometimes other ads there, in other places and also in homes and institutions, there is a very large advertisement, it is not justified. It is a real theft of money.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the participants asked:\u00a0\"<\/strong>"But what is the purpose of these advertisements? What are they advertising for? To increase their reputation? Or to bring in clients?"\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rabbi Zilberstein replied: "To increase money, and also to bring in clients, but that is not justified. According to this, it is impossible to collect money from the poor public, who need this money to live their lives, that is not justified. The things we do today are not justified.
