I tried to lead it in an orderly manner - that doesn't mean arriving in the middle of the night at some fancy apartment and signing an agreement without me being involved. I thought it was right to do it with orderly thought, planning, connecting, seeing who the people were. It didn't work because both of them opposed the triangle connection - and then suddenly there was a connection between them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\""From the moment they connected, it's a given situation - and I'm looking ahead. I think it was a mistake, and so I'm doing damage control, considering whether it adds, whether it subtracts, whether it makes a bigger bloc. One thing guides me - how to win elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We need to see what this move means, what additional parties will be formed and whether the election date will be in September, October or any other date. We need to examine it every week, make an ongoing assessment of the situation, and the main question is - what leads to victory? That's what guides us.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is what you're essentially saying is that there's no way you'll be Bennett's number 2 - but maybe Bennett will be your number 2?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\""No. Regarding the statement 'I will not be Bennett's number 2' - that happened when his party was 'Bennett 2026'. I founded a party and acted in coordination with him. We had quite a few meetings, so it's an issue that I'm examining. My understanding is that whoever knows how to win - should lead. And if we don't reach an agreement, then even if we run shoulder to shoulder, we need to run in coordination, in cooperation, on common fundamentals, with a decision that whoever receives the mandate - is the head of the largest party, and the one who has the chances of forming a government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eisenkot on the recruitment of Haredim<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until Thursday, your website stated that the cumulative exemption rate would not exceed 30% from Haredi yeshiva graduates. On the evening of that day, it suddenly said 3% from the entire cohort. What changed?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I defined four basic principles a year ago: conscription for all citizens of the State of Israel, abolishing the historic exemption for Begin, giving exorbitant benefits to those who serve and severe sanctions for those who evade - and giving 3% in an annual cycle. We changed this because it was used by my political opponents to make false statements that I was granting exemptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means you changed your position - it was 30% and became 3%. You are giving fewer exemptions due to public pressure. Maybe Bennett is right when he says you are changing your positions?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

"It's hard to say that I'm changing positions. Unlike others who thought that there was no need to conscript Haredim, my positions regarding conscripting Haredim have not changed. I say for the thousandth time, if what stands between me and forming a government is an evasion law, I would prefer to go to additional elections and not compromise on conscription for everyone.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can say here firmly - are you ready or not ready to sit with Netanyahu in the next government?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
