At least nine coalition members voted for Elron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, according to the State Comptroller Law, in order to be elected in the first round, one of the candidates must obtain the support of at least 61 Knesset members. Since none of them reached this threshold, no winner was declared. It should be noted that a blank ballot was discovered during the count that could have been decisive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contest was between Elron, the opposition candidate and retired Supreme Court judge, and Attorney Rabilo, the coalition candidate and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu&#039;s attorney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The election took place by secret ballot behind a curtain in the Knesset plenum, with the vote counting carried out by a joint ballot committee for the coalition and the opposition under the supervision of the Knesset Secretary and the Legal Bureau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the second round, a storm arose in the plenum after Likud MKs filmed themselves voting for Rabilo from behind the curtain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MK Kati Sheetrit filmed herself at the ballot box, and some MKs sought to invalidate the vote and start it over. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaker of the Knesset <strong>Amir Ohana<\/strong> Stopped the vote in favor of consulting with legal counsel, at the end of which it was decided to hold the second round of voting again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Likud faction leader Aliza Barashi denied that she asked MKs to record themselves.
