Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's inner circle is currently working to promote a strategic move designed to disqualify the Ra'am party from running in the election campaign. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a report this evening (Sunday) by Suleiman Maswad on Channel 13, the goal is to lead to the declaration of the party's parent movement - the Islamic Movement (Southern Faction) - as a "terrorist organization.". <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The reason will be: transferring donation funds to the Gaza Strip during the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the report, the move is in the initial stages of development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sources close to Netanyahu claim that during the months of fighting in Gaza, the movement transferred funds and aid to the Strip - which, in their opinion, defines it as a body that supports and assists terrorist organizations in times of war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In order to implement the complex move, the political echelon will be required to overcome a number of significant legal and security hurdles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Turning the 'Southern Faction' into a terrorist organization will require legislative adjustments in the Knesset and changes to definitions in the Counter-Terrorism Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move requires receiving professional and official opinions from the relevant security bodies, primarily the Shin Bet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office did not comment on the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
