Israel Fire and Rescue concludes Lag BaOmer this evening (Wednesday). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the data, out of all the incidents, 1,552 fires were recorded in open areas, of which 1,031 were cases of fires left unattended. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\""These uncontrolled fires posed a real danger of fire spreading and damage to human life and property, and they required immediate intervention by the teams on the ground.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The heavy workload was also reflected in the 102 emergency hotlines, which received 14,621 calls during the holiday \u2013 double the number of calls received during normal times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hundreds of firefighters worked around the clock to ensure an operational response to every call, emergency centers were reinforced and launch points were opened to reduce reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israel's Fire and Rescue Commissioner, Rabbi Eyal Caspi, signed an order prohibiting the lighting of fires in unapproved open areas - until the end of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

"The vast majority of the public behaved responsibly, obeyed the instructions of the order and lit fires in places that were trained by local authorities, the Israel National Fund and the Nature and Parks Authority," say the Fire and Rescue Department. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
