In the presence of the President of the State, Holocaust survivors, and their families, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a speech at Yad Vashem this evening (Monday), in which he summarized the decisive campaign of the past year, under the shadow of Holocaust remembrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Netanyahu began by saluting the Holocaust survivors - "the mighty ones of spirit," and noted that they are privileged to witness something of unparalleled importance in the resurrection of Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But these days they are privileged to witness something else that is more important than ever. In the Holocaust, the poet Uri Zvi Greenberg wrote, we were 'an extinct people, like a wild animal on the hunt' - but in contrast, today our people are fighting back against our oppressors. In the Holocaust, we were a beaten animal that let out a cry of agony - whereas today we have a stronger country than ever before, that lets out a roar of power.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prime Minister detailed the latest military achievements: "In Operation 'Am Kalavi', and even more so in Operation 'Roaring the Lion,' Israel stands with the US at the forefront of the free world. Together, we crushed the evil regime in Iran to the core. The ayatollah regime sought to develop nuclear bombs and produce tens of thousands of deadly ballistic missiles designed to annihilate us. It financed and armed its terrorist sympathizers, who sought to strangle us in a ring of fire. At the same time, it spread its fanatical ideology across all continents - while defining the West as an 'existential threat.'".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Netanyahu emphasized the change in the equation: "He thought he would do it without hindrance. But not anymore. Our people learned the lesson. Year after year I pledged at the Holocaust Memorial Day rally - 'We will not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons.' And as Prime Minister of Israel I promised: 'There will be no more Holocaust.' This year we fulfilled this promise in practice. We dealt the regime of terror in Iran the hardest blow in its history. This regime is weaker than ever. Most of its military assets have been lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister continued: "The world has been plunged into a war of destruction that has claimed the lives of tens of millions of people - and of course the six million members of our people. The same world that was indifferent to the persecution of Jews, has come to realize that hatred of Jews - toxic anti-Semitism - undermines the foundations of the existence of all human society. Given all this, we are working so that future generations will not also ask with a sense of loss: 'What would have happened if it had happened?'".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Netanyahu shared about his visit to President Trump and his meeting with Holocaust survivor Jake Wexcel in Miami: "Jake, born in Poland, survived the Nazi inferno in the camps and forests as a teenager. At our meeting - at a synagogue in Miami, Florida - Jake stood with the yellow patch pin on his shirt. Everyone present stood up and cheered him on. I said to Jake and the members of the community: In the wake of the Holocaust, we promised - 'Never again.' We promised - and we are keeping it.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we had not acted - the names Natanz, Fordow, Isfahan and Parchin, could have been remembered for the world's horror just like Auschwitz and Treblinka, Majdanek and Sobibor. But we acted - and how we acted - in an unprecedented historical partnership with President Trump and the USA.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his speech, he conveyed a message to Europe and the world: "On Holocaust Remembrance Day this year, we will remember that the State of Israel is at the peak of its all-time strength. Who would have imagined 80 years ago that our daring Air Force pilots and American Army pilots would defend wing to wing the Middle East, Israel, and the United States of course. And one more thing - we are defending Europe. Europe that has forgotten so many things since the Holocaust. It can learn many things from us, and especially the main thing: the sharp distinction between good and evil, which at the moment of truth requires going to war for life.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Prime Minister attacked European governments: "Europe, which swore after the World War to defend what is good, is today afflicted with a deep moral weakness. Europe is losing control of its identity, its values, its commitment to safeguard civilization from barbarism. But Israel does not forget this eternal commitment. Together with the US, and together with other countries with which we are forging alliances that will be discussed later, we are defending ourselves, in fact we are defending the entire world!"\"<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Netanyahu signed an appeal to the survivors: "Dear Holocaust survivors, citizens of Israel, no other people would have been able to do what we did: to bring about the great transformation from a Holocaust to a revival - a revival full of achievements that amaze the family of nations. The flourishing State of Israel will continue to serve as a beacon of freedom, progress and prosperity.
