To test the effectiveness of the charges, Gaidrov conducted an improvised explosive device test in an underground parking garage - and attempted to hide his evidence by burying phones and destroying memory cards documenting his activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ultimate goal of the bombs was to harm public figures, with Naftali Bennett's name emerging as a central target for assassination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gaidrov's conduct is described in the indictment as particularly extreme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the indictment, at a certain point in time, after a significant portion of the explosives he had produced had been lost or disappeared, Gaidrov, on his own initiative, approached the Iranian operator and offered to serve as a suicide bomber, in order to prove to his operators in Tehran his "seriousness" and commitment to the mission. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the indictment, the Iranian operator refused this offer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gaidrov was arrested last month after an intensive operation by the General Security Service (GSS) and the police fraud unit. His interrogation revealed that he had systematically tried to cover his tracks by burying telephones and destroying memory cards that contained documentation of his hostile activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
