This coming Sunday, the 11th of Nisan, we will mark the day on which the holy soul of the Lubavitcher Rebbe descended into the world, one hundred and twenty-four years ago. It is a righteous day, a day of joy and awakening, a day of thanksgiving to God, the Almighty, for planting this great soul within us. It is a day on which it is fitting for each and every one of us to awaken the memory of the personal contact we had with the Rebbe, and to strengthen ourselves by studying his Torah and walking in his ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the years pass, the strength of his leadership and the magnitude of the revolution he wrought become clearer. More and more sections of the Jewish people benefit from the light of his Torah, benefit from his precise guidance, and see him as the guide in our confused and bewildered generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We tried the ways<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Rebbe taught us how to love every Jew, whatever their opinions and actions. How to brighten the face of even those who think exactly the opposite of you. How to look for the common inner point and not the divider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Love for others does not mean giving up your own views. There is no one like the Rebbe who stood by his principles and did not deviate from them in the slightest. He accepted with love and kindness even those who held views completely opposite to his own, without in the least compromising his adherence to Torah and Halacha. He separated a person's views and actions from the person himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is precisely in these days that we can understand his fierce fight against the policy of retreat and concessions. He saw where this path leads, and how much it endangers the safety and security of all the inhabitants of the country. He understood well what many of our decision-makers did not understand \u2013 that the way to survive in the jungle around us is by projecting Jewish power and genius, and not by embellishing and trying to please.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Indeed, we are with the Book and our strength lies in our faith and spiritual strength, but our Holy Torah itself teaches that in the face of an enemy one must stand firm, even to violate the Sabbath and take up arms, and to advance against him when there is concern that this will endanger Jewish lives (Laws of the Sabbath, Section 29).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Rebbe cried out from the bottom of his heart that surrendering to world pressures would achieve the opposite result and only increase the pressures on us, whereas when we stand firmly and resolutely for our vital interests, the nations of the world will also respect us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Eligible day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Unfortunately, we tried the path of concessions and retreats, and the results were bitter. In contrast, now we are finally walking the right path, and behold, it is a wonder \u2013 the entire world looks with admiration at the Jews who suddenly raised their heads and beat their enemies without hesitation. New songs are also heard in the Arab world, because they too respect the strong and determined and despise the weak and the groveling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Rebbe urged us to follow this path, promising that it would bring security and peace, and ensure the ability of the Jewish people to live in the inheritance of their ancestors in peace and peace of mind.
