Under the direction of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this coming Sunday, a decision-making proposal will be submitted for government approval to determine the location of Israel's first supplementary international airport - in Ziklag in the Negev.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tzkalj is located in the triangle between Rahat, Netivot and Ofakim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision was reached by the Prime Minister following a discussion with Minister of Transportation Miri Regev, Deputy Minister Almog Cohen, Deputy Director General of the Prime Minister's Office, and senior officials from the Ministries of Finance, Transportation, and Defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Establishing a supplementary international airport is a national necessity given the continuing increase in the number of flights to and from Israel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision to establish the first airport in the south is significant news for the Israeli aviation industry and even greater news for the entire Negev.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The airport is expected to create thousands of new jobs, strengthen the regional economy, and is part of a broad move led by the government to reduce gaps and effectively eliminate the concept of periphery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister of Transportation Miri Regev: "This is a historic decision that strengthens Israel's skies, the economy, and the Negev. A supplementary international airport in the south is a tremendous growth engine that will create employment, open up new opportunities, and connect the Negev to the centers of activity in Israel and the world. From today, we are not talking about the periphery, but about growth centers. This is a policy of execution, not talk. We are already preparing so that the supplementary airport will be built and operate in the most efficient, safest, and most advanced way.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich: "Establishing a supplementary international airport in the Negev is an economic, national, and strategic decision of the highest order. This is a move that connects security resilience with economic growth, between developing advanced infrastructure and practically strengthening the periphery.". <\/p>\n\n\n\n
