According to a report today (Saturday) in the Wall Street Journal, based on American sources, the talks were intended to formulate practical courses of action to implement President Donald Trump's threats against the Islamic Republic - if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the report, one of the main options being discussed is a large-scale air strike targeting a series of strategic military targets in Iranian territory. The sources noted that the discussions included mapping potential sites for bombing, with the aim of crippling the regime's operational capabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the Lufthansa Group also canceled all its flights to Tehran until January 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Iranian official denied reports to the Telegraph that Khamenei might flee the Islamic Republic: "He won't leave Tehran even if B-52 bombers fly over it." The same official added: "He is in closer contact with the Revolutionary Guards than with the army or the police. He has entrusted his fate to the Revolutionary Guards.". <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Telegraph noted that over 2,277 people were arrested last night, including 166 minors and 48 students who apparently participated in the protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A doctor in Tehran told Time magazine that six hospitals in the capital have recorded at least 217 protesters killed in the clashes in recent days. Opposition sources in Iran also said that hundreds of protesters have been killed in clashes since Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An Iranian protester who spoke to CNN testified: "The bodies are piling up in the hospital in Tehran, the regime's violence is brutal.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An Israeli official told Channel 12 today that for the first time since the protests broke out two weeks ago, the security establishment is identifying real signs that the events are beginning to challenge the stability of the regime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said, "This is not yet a critical mass, and the regime is not on the verge of collapse - but the protest graph is on a clear and continuous rise, at a pace we have not seen in previous weeks.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump issued a threat last night similar to the threats he had already issued this week, saying that the US would intervene if Iran started "killing people," while noting that he had no intention of sending troops to the area. "Iran is in big trouble. It looks like the protesters are taking over cities, which no one thought was possible a few weeks ago.".<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This morning, the exiled Iranian Crown Prince, Reza Pahlavi, issued a statement calling for a general strike in the country and preparing to occupy cities in Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a video message that Pahlavi posted online, he said: "I call on workers and employees in key sectors of the economy, especially in transportation, oil, gas and energy, to begin a nationwide strike process. I also ask all of you to take to the streets today and tomorrow from 6:00 PM with flags, pictures and national symbols, and to occupy public spaces. Our goal is no longer just to take to the streets, but to prepare to occupy and defend city centers.". <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pahlavi even called for preparation for a prolonged stay on the streets and for stocking up on supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pahlavi added: "To the youth of Iran, and to all the security and armed forces who have joined us, I say: Slow down and disrupt the machine of oppression even more so that on the promised day we can completely disable it. I am also preparing to return to my homeland and be with you, the great nation of Iran, when our national revolution triumphs.
