In 2019, three Jews were attacked by Arabs while serving as observers in elections in northern Israel on behalf of the Likud party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the polls closed, the observers sought to exercise their right to vote at an accessible polling station in the city of Umm al-Fahm, but there they were blocked by dozens of Arabs who prevented them from entering the polling station - and some even began to attack the observers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The observers fled the scene and began driving toward the exit from the city, while several Arabs attempted several times to block their vehicle and lynch them. The observers managed to escape with great resourcefulness and reach the police station, where they filed a complaint about the attack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The police opened an investigation into the incident and even arrested several suspects, but about a year ago the prosecutor's office decided to close the case - despite the attacks being documented on security cameras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Attorney Haim Bleicher of Mhonenu filed an appeal with the Attorney General's Office against the closure of the case. In the appeal he filed, Attorney Bleicher describes the serious incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\""On 9.4.19 in Umm al-Fahm, several people attacked the appellants, as they attempted to exercise their right and vote at the polling station at the Al-Muntaby School in the city. The appellants, who served as observers and were not at the polling station in their area of \u200b\u200bresidence, were forced to vote near the closing time of the polls and were directed to the nearest 'accessible polling station' in Umm al-Fahm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \""When they arrived at the scene, they were stopped by a police officer who took their IDs and began a search. Meanwhile, a large number of minority members gathered around them, who terrorized them, and some even physically attacked them. The appellants, who felt their lives were in danger, were forced to give up their right to vote and hurriedly left the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \""When they got into the car and wanted to leave, their vehicle was blocked by a car and a motorcycle. The appellants managed to escape and drive away. Then a nightmare journey began on the city roads, during which several vehicles belonging to minorities and the motorcycle in question chased them. At a certain point, a traffic jam formed and the appellants' vehicle was forced to stop. Then they got out of the vehicles and attacked the appellants' vehicle with clubs and smashed the windshield. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \""The appellants felt their lives were in danger but miraculously managed to escape again. When they reached the Al-Ayun intersection, their vehicle was blocked again and the attackers got out of the vehicles again, tried to open the vehicle doors, and some of them hit the vehicle and threw objects at it. The appellants also got out of this situation with great resourcefulness, and finally managed to escape the lynching while being forced to hit another vehicle and fleeing the city," Bleicher described. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In the appeal, Attorney Bleicher emphasizes that some of the attacks and the chase are clearly documented and that some of the suspects attributed themselves to the incident, even though they tried to change versions time and time again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Attorney Bleicher: "This is a shocking incident in which more and more members of minorities join together in a life-threatening chase and unbridled rampage with the determined goal of lynching the Jews who arrived at the scene and murdering them. But due to the resourcefulness of the driver and by a real miracle, the Jews managed to escape disaster by the skin of their teeth. Not a single Arab "Israeli citizen" bothered to call the police or try to prevent the murderous riot, and not even the policeman who was at the polling station bothered to call a force to rescue the Jews. During the investigation of the incident, we exerted pressure for the incident to be investigated, and even though the police eventually managed to collect significant evidence against some of the rioters, the prosecutor's office added a crime to the crime and closed the case.
