MK Akram Hasson, a member of Gideon Sa'ar's right-wing faction, claimed in an interview on Knesset Channel that in his opinion, members of Knesset should be paid no less than 100,000 shekels per month.
The MK also details the reasons and calculations for why this is the amount that the MK is supposed to receive - so that he can function properly.
""I know friends of mine who are active with me in non-profit organizations, and receive 35,000 shekels net at refineries, and at the Haifa Port it's 60-70,000 shekels gross. High-tech people receive almost one and a half or two times more than any member of Knesset.".
""The talk that a member of Knesset costs a lot of money, in the end it brings him 22 or 23 thousand shekels net.
""Someone like me who has to go to weddings, events, the house is open 24 hours, has to receive all the guests properly - I think that's 20 percent of what a member of Knesset should receive.".
He mentioned how during the time of Finance Minister Kahlon, MKs forgave an increase in their salaries: "Even when our situation was difficult, out of the belief that a MK should set an example for the people of Israel," but at the same time he revealed: "People don't know the truth about MKs - most of them are in Uber.".
