Commentator Avishai Greenzig revealed on Channel i24 this evening (Wednesday) additional transcripts from wiretaps of Lieutenant General Avishai Mualem, commander of the central unit in the Judea and Samaria region, which are at the center of the affair of those close to Minister Ben-Gvir.
According to the revelation, during Mualem's interrogation at the MHA, he was also criticized for his decision to allow MK Zvi Sukkot, from the Religious Zionist party, to meet with a man who was suspected at that point of time of the murder of a Palestinian, before giving his version to the police. It is important to note that the case in question will be closed later.
Muallem got into trouble explaining the puzzling step he took, when he claimed in a real-time conversation with a journalist: "This is an interrogation exercise, don't talk about it."
On the other hand, during the investigation at the MHA, he presented a different - and quite surprising - reason: "Zvi Sukkot was my source before he was a member of Knesset, a source in nationalist crime."
According to him, Sukkot is nothing less than an agent of the central unit of the Judea and Samaria district.
The truth is that Sukkot apparently only wanted to visit the injured suspect, and nothing more. In any case, Zvi Sukkot strongly denied in his testimony at the MHASH that he was an agent or source for Commander SY.
MK Zvi Sukkot said in response to i24: "I was a Yamar agent along with Ben Gvir and Elvis. This is a complete lie and nonsense. The first time I met Mualem was as a MK when he came to me in the Knesset on his own initiative.
"If this is the level of a police commander when he comes to an investigation, a complete inspection of the entire system should be carried out. The prosecution is on its way."
